Wow...fabulous thread! Great cross-section of old faves & tracks I've never heard before! The Shona Laing is spectacular!!!!

This reminds me so much of my youth...buying t-shirts from Poseur, red Converse runners & the newness that new wave was back in 80-81!

Truly, a remake is begging...but I will hit the ceiling if Lindsay Lohan or Ashlee Simpson get their grimey hands on it....

Lots of great stuff here. I'll add my vote for Dubh Chapter as the best so far. Also, egg-roger's Black Watch song is, indeed, terriffic.

It's tough to pick just one song, but here's Scotty's Lament from The Connells' sadly overlooked 1987 album "Boylan Heights".

Celtic-influenced power-pop from a North Carolina band? Works better than you might think. The CD is out of print, but can be found used. Enjoyable all the way through.

Here's two versions of one track by the late UK-based gothic rock group Play Dead. Neither version of the song "Weeping Blood" has ever been released on to compact disc unfortunately. The first version is the original mix off of the original "From The Promised Land" LP back in May 1984. The band was disatisfied with the mixes and after only 1,000 LPs of the album were pressed and released... so they re-recorded the entire album and released a second edition of "From The Promised Land" later that month. All second editions had a sticker that read "Remix" on the front cover. "From The Promised Land (remix)" was reissued on CD format in 1992 as "Resurrection" and included 8 unreleased tracks... but Clay Records for some reason decided to drop "Weeping Blood" altogether. So here they are... original and remix.

I'm a fan of Mitch Easter. He recorded a couple of albums with Shalini Chatterjee under the name Shalini. This is off the 2000 album We Want Jelly Donuts.

This thread is so very very. I'm addicted and can hardly keep up! I'm just starting out, I doubt I have anything to contribute that isn't well known but I'll go through what I have and see what I can do.

I also quite like the Dubh Chapter song... but while listening to it I can't shake the thought that the opening of "Touch and Go" sounds eerily similar to the ending of Roxy Music's "Over You."

Well, it does to me!
