i'm really not familiar with any of them. can some one please tell me why one is better than the other? which one is better for new wave jams? any help would highly appreciated!

I use both. Why limit yourself to one?

Me too. Soulseek has many more people, therefore a wider variety and bigger selection. I have found some incredible stuff there. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of people who just take and don't give which is a bummer but I look at it as the price you pay (did I say price???[;)])
The Hub I look at as a whole different animal. First off it's way more fun and a much greater sense of community. I have also found amazing stuff there.
Usually, I'm on both at the same time[:D]

Both,it really all depends on what your looking for. The Hub is a little more friendlier and less diverse in music keeping to new wave as its root music. Slsk is very large and you can find about anything but leens a bit more towards "electro", but the RIAA are more apt to snoop around on slsk. The hub for more social gathering and new wave music. Slsk for all else. I'm on both all the time.

Coop summed up soulseek nicely. I usually just use it as an easy way to upload stuff to a select group. I'm not on the hub, so I can't comment on it.

I can't do the hub. I love slsk, but you have to persistent and patient with some searches. Occasionally, you run across mistagged stuff. There's a lot of variety. People offer different mixes, 12" or otherwise. I find it helpful to constantly refresh your searches...seems like you get different results every single time. I dunno....I'm happy with it.

The NWO, however, has been AWESOME and AMAZING with helping me find rare NW stuff that I thought I'd never find again. Therefore, I bet the hub is an AMAZING resource!

With all the technical problems encountered on the hub, I gave up on it and went all Soulseek. Join me and about 2 others in the New Wave Outpost room. Plenty to share.

yes, there is the leech problem with Soulseek, but it's worth the price for a great variety of music, mostly from other NWOers.

Right click on rooms list and click refresh and all the rooms listed will be there (you can list alphabetically)!

It sounds like there used to be a lot of problems with the Hub, but in the two months I've been on there, it's been pretty smooth sailing. Those who haven't been on in awhile might want to give it another try.

Soulseek just keeps crashing on my computer, so I gave up on that. I have no problems with the hub at all.

One thing so far no one has mentioned is that in order to use Soulseek you have to have what the hub calls an "active" connection. Some people don't have, or don't know how to get an active connection. I finally got off my butt and did it so maybe I'll take a look at soulseek, however if you're not active then Soulseek is not an option for you.

(I know you have to do port forwarding through your router/firewall to be active, however is there a difference between being active and port forwarding other than that? This I'm not sure of.)
