Jimbo, I always enjoyed reading your posts(even the ones that pissed me off [;)]). Even though we disagreed on a lot of things and it may not have always seemed that way at the time, you always had my respect. I just hope you know that there are more than a few of us who will miss you. You have my e-mail if you ever wanna say hi.

This is such bullshit. I hate it that Jimbo has left the building. Hell, I hate to see anyone leave (with one exception) but Jimbo always seemed to bring things back into RealityLand, at least that's my humble opinion. This make me want to go kill some pinkos....

I am personally getting tired of shit like this happening! I am not taking sides but some folks on here can be down right mean while others can be way to sensitive! This is the fucking interent and nobody should take things so seriously. If you can't stand the heat don't post on here. On the other hand if you can't be civil than fuck off!!! Now this doesn't mean you castrate your beliefs and feelings either. Wheter I think a a fellow is a prick or the best thing since sliced bread it should be allowed to be posted provided you stay level headed. And if you post your picture and tell us all about your life in intimate detail than that is fair game!!!!!

I LOVED Jimbo and will really miss him around here!

Bunch of fucking crybabies lately around here!

Sorry for making fun of you, Nero. I couldn't help myself. But your sentiment is dead on, although at times we have to show SOME consideration.

Jimbo's one of the original 1st-week veterans. It sucks he's bailing exactly a week shy of the 3-year forum anniversay! Oh well, he's a private person who I'm guessing detests both public sucking up as well as ill thought-out dissent.

If I know Jimbo...and if it's true that he really has left the board...then it's more to do with being fed up with the bullshit and less having to do with being "offended". I've seen people try to throw their wicked best at the man and he always simply laughed. And when people have tried to get personal and make attacks on his person rather than the content of hs post, I've seen him do the same thing, if not outright ignore them as such people ought to be.

There are some real immature people around here and to have to see that on a daily basis can be pretty damned irritating to some. This place was always a nice respite to the day to day activities in our real lives. A place for intelligent discourse, joking around, current events, basically any and all off topic conversation. Sure, it's about the music primarily and that will never change but we got this side of the site to let loose on other topics. I mean how much could you talk about music, right? And if we have similiar tastes in music, it might stand to reason that we have other tastes that may be similiar too.

Anyway, the point is that the tone has changed in recent months. There are some long standing veterans that have become quiet and that's just wrong. We should set the tone for the way things are run around here. Not the trolls. Not the crybabies. Not the fucking cliques. We need to set an example to the newcomers that we look out for eachother and that we're not afraid of any b/s because we all have eachother's back. If I can do it, then anybody can surely do it. Again, the vets know what I'm tlaking about.

I've always tried to foster a sense of inclusivity around here, as opposed to exclusivity. Have I gone off on people every now and then? Sure, but so what? People have given me a piece of their mind too. Big deal. I think we've always moved on. This website is microcosm of real life. If I can deal with life, I can surely deal with a message board. What are the chances we'll ever really meet eachother anyway? I could pass you on the street and not even know it.

And to the people who think that the "anything is fair game" philosophy is legitimate, they need to rethink why they're here. We're here because we like being friendly with eachother. That's the only "fair game" if you ask me. Anything else is malicious and the group will shoot it down. I know this. I know we're on the internet talking to otherwise strangers and that anybody in the world can anonymously lurk so we need to use a certain degree of common sense in what we "put out there". This I think is fairly common knowledge. But to say that it would be "fair game" to exploit whatever information can be gleaned from our posts for the sole purpose of harassment is bull. It's not "OK" to harass people. I'm personally not bothered by it but there are some who might be sensitive to this so I say it for their benefit. And I give them the warning of using common sense for their own benefit too. This is what it is to participate on a chat board.

There are going to be opinions. Everyone has them. If you're going to put yours out there, be prepared to have to hear others. Pick your battles. Don't get bent over every little thing. Grow a thicker skin. Learn restraint. Most of us know this but again, it's the immaturity that I see chasing away some of the vets. We're discussing ideas here, not eachother as human beings. Fucking get over it. And I want to see some of the old timers posting again. Skinnytie. Schwenko. Motors has gotten a little quiet. Beatschool. Von Konrad. MAS. Nice to see Hex again. Jimbo better not have left. Swampthing. MyGreen.

OK, I'm done.

Marv I agree with the intent of your post but I want to point a few things out:

(1) You call for an inclusive NWO but yet you are calling out the veterans to patrol the BOARD??? Isn't that the ultimate clique? That is exactly what people are starting to get fed up about. That some how those of you/us that have been on here awhile know best. That is why this problem doesn't go away...there is that NWO hieracrhy that people resent.

(2) If you post something on here it is fair game! I will go further...if you post it on the internet it is fair game! It is wrong to stifle opinion. If you don't want it known or repeated don't mention it on here. Now you know me to never (or almost never) use what people have said on here and run it to the ground or throw in someone elses face....but having said that I cannot promise to post a "can you believe what so and so said"? Or if a poster writes a thread about fidelity and we know he cheated on his wife (because he posted it 2 months ago) than I can call him out on it by saying "dude you are the last to talk...." That is not harassment! Harassment or going overboard would be say meeting with someone on here at a bar...getting drunk and telling him/her some secret and then having it posted here. revealing something from Private HUB chats for instance would also not be fair game. That is plain wrong....but using some posters words (which they posted) against him/her in an exchange I don't think is such a crime. Ignore the fucking person and watch how he or she goes away. The Internet is a public place...BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU POST ON IT!

(3)I am not sure you can lurk or stalk someone on a chat board. Can someone explain this to me?

(4) "Most of us know this but again, it's the immaturity that I see chasing away some of the vets." - A VET can be a problem to. Fuck this notion of a vet hierarchy! The mods are on top of the hill here! It is Mike's board and he picked some people to police it. So they rule. NOT THE VETS (who ever the fuck they are) Everyone else around here is lower than whale shit (me included). If everyone took the attitude that you are a plain NWO poster and nothing more than the NWO would be a better place.

Marv we can finish this off like real men if you like and hold a dance off at a place of your choosing out on the island. I will be David Hassehof and you be George Micahel. Malibue Sue, will be the judge![8D]

I hope you don't mind me interjecting that I think there probably needs to be a balance between both of your points of view. I sense that Nero's post is inferring a certain sense of self-righteousness in Marv's post. Frankly some of that does come off in the language and tone, but I doubt it was Marv's intent. When he's talking about missing some of the "vets", I take that to mean nothing more than regretting that long-time contributors that we all appreciated are no longer here - it's presumptous to take it as anything more than that. Still, if you're going to accuse people of immaturity, cliquishness, or generally negative tone, I think people will accept it better if you say that that's what your sensing rather than using more judgmental language and telling people that's what they are. Granted that's HARD to do and I'm sure I have done this repeatedly. But I'll gladly take the spirit of your message if not all the language.

To Nero's points, it's NOT all fair game. This is a HUGE falacy. MikeP has made it clear that he doesn't want this to be so. It's his board, and he's interjected more in the past two weeks than ever before - that should tell you that he expects a certain level of mutual respect. This place involves real people that we've grown accustomed to with real feelings. It's not the whole world wild web here in that sense, but you're point is also taken that people should be somewhat cautious of broad emotional revelations or self-proclamations about themselves - it does draw out cynicism and suspicision. But again, there has to be a balance right? If someone looks like they're baiting, hell, feel free to zing 'em but move on rather than be harassingly tenacious. If someone looks like they're going ballistcally emo, do what you'd do in real life, maybe give 'em some respect and steer clear rather than lecture from a high horse.

Again, we all often fall to "do as I say, not as I do" so I'm not recusing myself, my friends or my detractors of anything. Just sayin', know what I'm sayin'?

As for Jimbo, we shouldn't presume to know any of reasons for bailing. I'd personally be cringing at all this speculative attention.
