<br>All you guys are right on the mark. SLEEP CONVENTION is indeed a tremendous work. Totally overlooked when it came out, and only NOW getting the acclaim it deserved back then. I've had a regular retail copy of the vinyl since its release. I recently ripped it to CD, and it turned out to be a VERY clean rip. If anyone on this forum would like a copy, I'm sure Dane wouldn't mind. ;-)

Let me be the first to publically grovel for a copy of this [:D]
I'd be happy to send b & p. Please let me know, thanks!

Yes, we'd all love to hear those unpublished songs. Please let me know if any appears on the hub ... I've been away from it for far too long and would like to start checking it out again.

Has anyone here ever even seen the "Delta Sleep" video? The only one I saw back in '82 was "Come Back" (which was also the only single), but the MTV2 marathon introduced me to "Shock of the New." I don't know where that one was hiding, but it certainly wasn't ruling the airwaves at the time of release. "Delta Sleep" remains an enigma. I'm guessing it looks like the other two.

"Shock of the New" was probably my favorite track. "Come Back" was decidedly not one of my favorites, and I wish MCA had picked something -- anything -- else to push the record.

Be on the look out for "Puppies"

This was Danes project before Trees. He told me it was more rock oriented than Trees...but its super ultra rare. Hes not sure if he even has a copy.

Neat guy. I tracked him down and talked to him a lot.
Hes even heard my music.

MCA didnt take the album seriously at all.
Just before they released the record...the entire staff was fired.
The previous staff.... was awesome. They heard it and LOVED the record and they were ready to put Dane as the next Duran Duran basically...
They were ready for a release with extensive production. Instead, they were all fired..and the new guys took everything that was cirulating through the company at the time and just ignored it.

The staff at MCA seemed to get fired every two years back then. This is why they had, oh, 4 successful artists in the '80s. It would have been worse for Dane had it come out the year after. If anyone knew how to bury an inherited record, it was Irving Azoff.

Ironically, I think Azoff did bury an inherited record that Dane produced.

Hey all, I just heard "Delta Sleep" on an online new wave station and it was one of the best tunes I'd ever heard! I've been trying to obtain a copy legally but the band's not listed on iTunes. Does anybody have an mp3 version?

And, if the rest of the album is as good as you all say, I'd love to hear more. [8D]

Rubbeet... just stumbled across this board while Googling for this album. I found "Delta Sleep" from Soulseek, but would it be possible to get the rest of the album from you?

Thanks man!

Actually I recall one of the songs from this getting some airplay on KROQ for a few weeks...can't remember which song it was (the keyboard sounded like bagpipes).

And even though I really liked the song I never went out and bought the album (I could be sickeningly lazy back then).

Besides the hub anyone know where to get the album?
