I like the Slits, but love the ironically named The Pop Group. Found them very unapproachable at first but very rewarding after the ears get tuned to their music. But no memories attached to them whatsoever - discovered in retrospect. So do tell DearGod...

I don't know about anyone else, but I started humming "we are we are we are but your children" when I saw the topic.

Thought it too at first...but now I'm shrieking "We Are All Prostitutes."
Let's add Liliput/Kleenex to the mix.

when the slits album "cut" came out, i was (a foolish young man) in a record shop saying loudly to my friends - "look at the cover, they're only doing that to sell the album, bet it's crap..."
that night i hear tracks off it, on the radio, and have to quietly sneak back to the shop and buy my copy, because it's one of the greatest punk-reggae albums ever... and now i've got it on cd, with "heard it through the grapevine" on it - i was a local dj in those days and got loads of local punks into the slits!
i was over the moon last year, when someone ripped the long unavailable "return of the giant..." onto cd for me!

Hitler SS / Tampax?

If you've got that original 7" you're sitting on about a $400 record. If you're listening to it from the Killed By Death comp you're like the rest of us!

i blame nina hagen[:p]
it was a common thing at the time, for bands to get their kit off... not quite sure what the statement was but... well there you go.
there's a famous pic of ari-up sporting some jubilee knickers, and lest we forget "the lemon kittens/danielle dax" who insisted her band performed in the buff [8D]
having seen rockbitch perform live, it does kind-of detract from the music, somewhat.

interesting trivia: ari-up's mum married johnny rotten[:0]

I'd much rather have Whisper to a Scream going through my head.
