Pretty Happy with my CD scores today

Postby Frau_Blucher » Mon Sep 12, 2005 12:51 pm

I'm in Boston all week. Had an hour off between meetings and strolled down Newbury St. I'm pretty happy with some used CDs I got in that brief time:

Killing Joke's Laugh? I Nearly Bought One! comp -$8 (freakin great to hear "Follow the Leader" in full CD glory)
Jesus & the Mary Chain's Singles -$9
Billy Corgan's Future Embrace -$7
Smashing Pumpkins' Perfect CDS -$5
Chess Classics Blues Box Set -$20
The Complete Jam 2 DVD Video Set -$14!!!
Having killer music for the road and DVDs for the lonely hotel room - PRICELESS!

Excellent scores Blir. WOW! I'd have bought everything on that list as well.

Blir will be happy to tell you he has a 60GB lemmingPod.

That qualifies him VIP status for the big jump off the cliff.......

Yeah but it's like people with enormous members...we never feel the need to talk about it.

Oh dammit, I just did. [V]

Hey, how did this chat turn into an iPod smear zone huh? Blir got some AMAZING deals on some great material and I'm jealous. Hey Wauk, that Boston Beat Imports joint looks awesome. I'm thinking of taking a drive out to Boston just to check it out.

Um, did I just hear the words ROAD TRIP? How 'bout it?!? Blir, Wauk, 2nu? I'll drive. Any other NY area wavers in the house? Schwenk?

Man, the more I watch these Jam DVDs, the more I remember how much I was completely head over heels for them back in the day. But I never really realized how central a vocal role Bruce Foxton took in almost every song they sung - the Jam were most definately not just Paul Weller. Probably why Style Council or his solo stuff never truly resonated with me.

But watching stuff like the insanely melodic Man in the Corner Shop makes me ache to hop in a time machine and see them in their early days.

Just say when and I'l love to help host. It'd be a blast having the NYC folks hook up with the Hub folks.

But Skinny, the music pickings aren't anything like NYC. I'd love you, Schwenko, and/or Waukena to host a tour of the hot NYC spots.

Whenever you're in town, Blir, just let me know, and I'll be more than happy to show you the CD meccas I frequently visit. It would be great to get schwenko, waukena, and marvymarv into the mix as well as any others who may want to join in. And don't forget, at the end of November, the WFMU Record Fair comes to town for a weekend, so make time for that one!

And I'm still under the impression that it doesn't hurt to check out other towns for music, you never know what hidden treasures you might find if you look around long enough.

Well, I'm in town Tuesday night on business. Too soon a notice? I can designate each of you as Drs. Long Wang, Ben Dover, Fuc Ngo, and Jack Meoff and do up a killer dinner as well. If not, I'll try to give more notice next time. If so, lemme know!!!
