Moody Songs from 1983-84

Postby hexicon » Sun Aug 22, 2004 9:30 am

Hi all,
As some of you know, I'm writing a book set in Seattle's NW teen dance club scene of 1983-84. I've put I'm putting together various playlists to inspire me depending on the tone of the chapter, and I'm hoping that you can remind me of some of the more obscure stuff. Not too obscure though--looking for songs that got radio play before June of 1984. Specifically, I'm looking for a bunch of moody, evocative pieces, the sort you listened to as you scowled and scribbled in your diary (well, if you were me). So this is a little different than the creepy NW song list that was going a while ago.

Songs in the vein of:
Rainy Season, Howard Devoto
Send Me an Angel, Real Life
The Killing Moon, Echo and the Bunnymen
Here Comes the Rain Again, etc.

You get the teen-angsty idea.
Thanks!

English Rose! Great one, how could I forget. And it indeed might not have seeped into our consciousness until '83 All Mod Cons/Setting Sons compilation rather than it's original '78 release on All Mod Cons.
