Rodney on the Roq

Postby Randall Roq » Sun Sep 25, 2005 12:00 pm

Does anyone have those compilation albums Rodney put out years ago. The ones with the hot looking girl in the school uniform. I never bought them and to this day kick myself.

I am curious now...how many albums in total were there and what songs were on them.

I thought I'd find them on ebay but no luck.

Not looking to buy them...just curious.

There were 3 albums, plus a "Best Of" that you can find on CD pretty easily. The best of has several songs that weren't on the original LPs & isn't nearly as good. All 3 LPs had a punk side & a new wave side & had bands like: Black Flag, Agent Orange, Red Rockers, Circle Jerks, UXA, the Crowd, Unit 3 with Venus, CH3, Twisted Roots, Gleaming Spires, Stepmothers, Vidiots, Rik L Rik, Simpletones, etc... All are worth getting if you run across them.

In addition to those, I have a comp called "Blood on the ROQ" with a similar Cali hardcore line-up. Don't have it in front of me - - I'll look up the label and song list when home if anyone's interested.

According to one of the pages I skimmed (and I was working fast, so I don't have a cite on this) "Blood On The ROQ" was an unauthorized compilation featuring some tracks from the hardcore sides of Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.

Wow, see I knew I'd regret not having picked those up. Seeing T.S.O.L. there is bittersweet. I had a friend who knew the band who passed away a few years ago from cancer (he died 3 months after telling me). That brings back a lot of memories.

Thank you for the response (everyone's like a walking encyclopedia around here..LOL)

I've got at least one, maybe 2 of the Rodeny comps. I'll take a look when I get home.
