Back in the 80s, there was a video show on KABC 7 in Los Angeles called Goodnight L.A. No veejays, no chatter. Just great new wave videos, mixed in with a few top-40 and hiphop videos. Graphics were never imposed on top of the videos. Who else would show videos from Barnes & Barnes, Echo and the Bunnymen, Cabaret Voltaire, The Residents, Black Flag, X, the Cure, Bowie, Nina Hagen? It was shown after midnight on weekends, and it inspired me to learn how to program a VCR. I taped many of those Goodnight L.A. shows on BETA and I still have them.

Video 22 was a Goodnight L.A. lookalike in Southern California. There was a veejay, and it was a weekday version of Goodnight L.A. shown between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.

And who could forget Richard Blade on "Video One". Good New Wave content. Was this show syndicated nationally or was it only a local show?

Even MTV's 120 Minutes was great in its' prime. We know what MTV has degenerated into something unrecognizable to the 80s purist.

Nowadays I feel sorry for today's kids. They don't know music videos that are not adulterated by promotional graphics and reality TV shows.

MV3 will always be the greatest New Wave tv show. In the Southern CA area, I also enjoyed the following shows that aired:

Video One (Which is funny because Richard Blade pulled away from the two other host on MV3 and called this show Video One)

Twiggy's Jukebox

Radio 1990

New Wave Theater (on USA) -- showed Residents, Saccharine Trust,

120 Minutes

American Bandstand (sometimes had new wave -- Blondie, PIL...)

Uncle Floyd Show (had lots of new wave bands and punk)

Sean is pretty accurate. MV3 wins for me hands down. It played the really obscure videos that MTV didn't really touch, plus Blade was a pretty good host. Many afterschool hours were spent in front of the TV when that show was on...........

MTV back in the day, of course.

In Seattle, there was a local video show once a week, about 1-2 hrs.or so, that played predominantly local acts--the Boibs, the Heats, the Allies ("Emma Peel"--YEAH !!!) Mondo Video,

I watched MV3 to get my new wave video fix first, then later Night Flight on USA and there was also a Southern California show on channel 22, KWHY, I think, with a host named Shredder. MV3 was one of the best, and showed what all the songs I listened to

Anybody remember u68? It was on the uhf band on t.v. You had to put tin foil on your antenae just to get it. And they played the same new wave videos every day.(vitamin z-foolish games about 10 times a day)

as well as many concerts.

I need to watch them before they deteriorate.

Phillyidol, yeah, the good old Uncle Floyd days. So much fun ...

I loved the inside jokes too. You had to watch all the time to get them. But it was one show that turned me on to a lot of good music.

Gosh, do I remember U68! I would watch it nonstop in 1986, just to see those Cucumbers and Cock Robin videos over and over again! Since they really only had a four hour block of programming they repeated all day, it was fairly easy to predict when your fa

Uncle Floyd had some cool acts!

Payolas were on UF, Ramones were on UF, remember The Rattlers? They were on UF.

He was on TV just a couple of years ago, probably still is. I have seen him at affairs I had to attend for work, he was a riot!
