In the NYC/NJ area, we had U68, on UHF channel 68 (regular, non-cable TV!). At night, it was Wometco TV, which played movies that you needed a decoder box to see, but during the day it played mostly New Wave videos.

Um, I lived in the boonies and didn't get to see all these programs you're mentioning, but have always been familiar with them.

HOWEVER, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I was really amazed how much Dick Clark and American Bandstand embrace

My favorite show was one that was on local access cable and hosted by Karen Finlay. It was simply called "Bad Music Videos", a half hour show where Karen and her cohorts played maybe 3 videos total, and would banter and critique the videos in between. I

"Jet Rocks" was a local (Pennsylvanian) music video show that aired on cable on weekends and played some really obscure stuff. "Night Flight" was the best - my very favorite. Of course, early MTV and VH1, when both played NW.

Made me a "Take on me" fan a year before it was released in the US. Same with Crowded house, and so many others.

The host of New Wave theatre was killed during the second season I believe and they still had some episodes they had to show.Shortly after the incident I remember the beginning said "With your ghost host..Peter Ivers." Creepy.
