Since some people here have such an intense hatred of 90's music and continually cite the Grunge period (circa 1991-1994) as their reason, here's a list of 90's acts who were all over college radio throughout the decade:

THIS was the 90's for me, all that variety and genre hopping, and not a one of these bands sound a darn thing like Nirvana.

I'll add Elastica, Mazzy Star, Suede, Pain Teens, Shampoo, and Super Cat, to that list. I agree with most of your list - however, I wasn't much of an Oasis fan - was more keen on Blur.

I agree there were TONS of good acts, and performers, after the 80s and up to this day, and even in the 80s and before, that commercially never saw the light of day on radio, or made it to the ears of most people. If you are like me, for every person you

Agree with you all. I hate the sentiment that the 90s sucked. This is where I dredge up my Smashing Pumpkins fondness...again! I know it isn't exactly eclectic to say Blur, Catherine Wheel, and Garbage were some of my staples but they are great bands IMHO

Thanks for mentioning the unheralded Jeffrey Foskett on your list. I saw him twice as a sideman with the Beach Boys (when there was actually a Wilson in the band) and with Brian Wilson. I have a song of his called "Through My Window" on a compila

Gotta love that brand new Muffs CD! I remember hearing "Sad Tomorrow" on a soft drink commercial and I thought for sure that they were going to be the next big thing. Oh well.....

I have to admit, I love soundgarden. I think they are grouped with the heavy grunge bands but they are different. Black hole sun and spoon man are my fav.
