Your procrastination list -- let's have it.

OK, we all have a To Do List -- some longer than others. What's on your procrastination list that you need to get done but have been avoiding?

[b]Things to do:[/b]

1. Taxes - this weekend

2. File all my photo jobs and get them off the light table (2+ years worth of jobs need to be filed -- would probably take a good solid day if I got to it)

3. Staining and sealing all the wood under our "New" double carport. I say "new" cause the buildout has been completed for more than a year.

4. Purge more paper and junk we don't need in the house (i.e. clutter)


[b]Some good news on crossing some stuff off from my list include:[/b]

1. Calking the baseboard inside my home office. Last summer (for the better part of a month) I had these little knats (bugs) flying around in my office and I couldn't figure out where they were coming from. Well they were coming in under the base board. As a stop gap measure I used tape and taped up the opening (I have polished concret floor in the office). So last night I finally calked up the inside, now I need to finish "part 2" and foam insulate the outside, but that shoud be an easy project for the weekend and take less than an hour.

2. Building a 4x4 frame post (7 vertical posts, with cross strut beams attached to the eves of the house) so we can add some shade netting on top of the structure for the west side of the house (cause it's hot enough here in Phoenix). and that will shade the wall to my office as well.

3. All my invoicing for the past month.

4. Building a black pvc frame system in the back of my F150 pick up to keep my (3) Matthews flags -- http://www.matthewsgrip.com/mse.php?sho ... s_ID=26029 -- above the level of the rear window, and thus protect them from damage -- I also sent them this week to be re-covered by Matthews, so they will be like brand new (instead of their current tattered and ripped state) -- I chose black pvc instead of white, so I won't have to see it everytime I look in the rear view window, and it wil be less obvious to other people as well. Also the 1.5" black pvc pipe and t-connectors & glue only cost $25 so I was able to solve a huge problem that will last as long as I need for not much money.

5. Finally ordered (6) gel frame holders from Matthews

These are made of metal and will replace the very warped and warbled 10" plexi-ring version I had fabricated more than 10 years ago. I put diffusion or colored gels in between the 2 pieces and put them in the photo reflectors to light the shots I produce for various clients, so this is a big deal to find a replacement system that works better than the system I have now.

My list is pretty mundane:
1. Vacuum upstairs and down, which isn't that big of a deal. Vacuuming the stairs, however, is a huge PITA.
2. Mop the kitchen. We're sticking to it because SOMEONE (not me!) spilled something (Coke, maybe?) tonight.
3. Update our Web site. Again, nothing hard but I keep putting it off.
4. Clean out my car. It's nasty, filthy, gross, dirty--just yuck. I need to wash it, too.
5. Take a sack full of stuff the kids have outgrown and my old fat clothes to Goodwill.
6. Shave my legs. Yuck, right?!
7. Buy new clothes. I'm swimming in the old ones.
8. Learn how to use the sprinkler system. All the plants and trees in our front yard look pathetic because they need a drink.
9. Return 2 overdue library books. Oops.
10. Finish a surprise I'm working on for Mr. BMG.

There you have it. My b-o-o-o-o-r-i-n-g to-do list.

Nothing Much for me. I try to do as little as possible, so I rarely procrastinate.

But...

Fix a picture frame in the livingroom - a print has shifted downwards in the frame & it's been like this for about 5 months...I see it everyday & think "oh...I have to fix that..."
Move boxes of records out of a closet into another closet
Start burning all of my mp3s to disc
Brush the dog, bathe the dog, take the horse clippers to the dog for his big summer shave

Oh, damn, I'm a big procrastinator.

Tackle the various piles of projects in my sewing room. I have so many projects in various stages of completion. I am always gung-ho to start something, then I get distracted and don't follow through.

Search the entire computer room for some financial paperwork that I simply MUST take care of.

Finish painting the bathroom trim and the stairwell. (The stairwell has been waiting for three years to be finished. I've been putting it off because I'm nervous about climbing a ladder that is placed precariously on the stairs.)

Rake last fall's leaves before I have to start mowing the lawn in another month. (It didn't help that I blew out my knee last fall, and everything pretty much came to a standstill.)

Go through the entire house (basement, sewing room, computer room) to sort, purge, and organize, to get rid of unnecessary accumulated crap. I'm ready to simplify.

Set all the clocks in the house ahead one hour for Daylight Savings Time. I've set the important clocks (alarm clock, stove and microwave, VCR), but we have many antique clocks that are still one hour behind.

Send thank you cards to people who sent me flowers during my hospitalization six weeks ago. (I'm so bad--Emily Post would be so ashamed.)

Listen to all the CDs I've received in the NWO CD exchange, copy them to my computer, and upload them to my iPod. Actually, I'm working on this, but I have a way to go. I'll take this opportunity to say a hearty (and overdue) "Thank you!" to everyone who sent me disks.

Oh that reminds me -- we had our house repiped with copper pipe more than 3 years ago and we still need to paint over the drywall in the master bathroom that was replaced due to the repipe.

Oh gawd, it's been nearly three months since the wedding and I haven't finished my thank-you notes!

I'm glad I'm not the only one; I'm a Procrastination Queen.

1. Taxes. yuk![xx(]
2. Grade papers
3. garden chores. I've been good and have gotten the beds ready during the winter, raked the leaves, composted, dug, laid down soaker hoses, but now it's time to PLANT!
4. Wash my car ('74 Plymouth Duster), maybe wax it a bit. Work under the hood--I've been procrastinating replacing the radiator hoses FOREVER. Also put in windshield wiper blade assembly bushing. Other engine stuff. I REALLY want to install a car stereo, but even with the cheapest model, I have a hard time justifying the cost. Especially since I've gotta pay #1--taxes.

...not as bad as my usual Procrastination list, but I've got a zillion other things that take up my time. I volunteer a lot, and school stuff looms--Prom is in less than 2 weeks, all manner of end-of-the-school-year stuff looms as well.....yow!
