In Manila, Newwavers are divided into 2 camps, those belonging to the Gentle NW led by China Crisis and those belonging to the Power NW led by the Sisters.... I probably fall in between since I like both. Now with regard to China Crisis, I consider that they have 5 great songs, namely, King In A Catholic Style, my favorite, Wishful Thinking,African And White, The Highest High and Black Man Ray. I would rate those songs 80-100. Then my rating goes down, down... with songs like Tragedy And Mistery, Hanna Hanna, You Did Cut Me, Arizona Sky, Bigger The Punch I'm Feeling etc. One of the problems with that band is that they came up with so many best, very best, Diary, Collection etc It's a bit tiring to see them always recycling the same songs...Well, I have 5 albums: Diary_A Collection, Flaunt The Imperfection, The Best Songs, Wishful Thinking and Working With Fire And Steel... I'm not planning to complete the collection... what for?

I also have the Acoustically Yours album but I think they released a bonus CD of that one which never became available here - does anyone care to share some of the best tracks in it?

Speaking as a staunch CC Fan....you should search out

"Animalistic (A Day At The Zoo Mix)"
"Performing Seals"
"Forever I and I"

these are all B-Sides .... but to me are China Crisis's true essence.....

[/quote]wow finally someone in the know! 'Performing Seals' is one of my all-time favourites. Also check out

'Seven Sports For All'
'Dockland'
'Little Italy'
'Some people I know to lead fantastic lives (Extended Version)'

Their first 2 or 3 albums are long overdue for a remaster/reissue..

Thanks Yip Yip (by the way - great moniker - I need to get some Yip Yip Coyote on Vinyl.....they were kind of a Haysi Fantayzee/Buffalo Gal cow punk kind of thing right?)
-Anyway another one I forgot is the Bside to Highest High "96-8" ---VERY similar to Steely Dan ---a more new wavy Steely Dan, I could listen to that track over and over...."Cucumber Garden" is also interesting...a really great ambient track is "No Ordinary Lover" (sounds like it would be a pop song, but its a lengthy instrumental) a great CC site is as follows:

But they list 'No Ordinary Lover' as on the B-side of 'No More Blue Horizons' 7" and I'm pretty sure it's not a lengthy instrumental. Then under 'China Crisis Collection' Limited Edition Double CD, it says ""No ordinary lover" and "Watching over burning fields" switched" BUT on the 'pop song' (which is supposedly 'No Ordinary Lover') you do hear the words "watching over burning fields" in the lyrics.. someone pass me an aspirin please [xx(]
