Heartbeat (New York Mix) - Psychedelic Furs is AWESOME and better than the original, to my mind!

I totally agree - much better than the original.

I like;
Blondie - Heart of Glass (Richie Jones Mix from the Remixed, remade, remodled cd)
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart (Trouser Enthusiasts remix) a good updated trance mix of the classic.
Donna Summer - I Feel Love (Rollo & Sister Bliss mix)

Unfortunatly I never paid attention to a lot of the particular remixers back in the 80's. Some of my favorite original extended versions;
Charlie Sexton - Beats So Lonely
Nina Hagen - Zarah
Iggy Pop - Cry For Love
Motels - Shame (one of the best remixes I've ever heard - one that actually adds to the song rather than cut & repeat.)
Secession - Touch
Anne Clark - If I Could
Siouxsie - Wheels on Fire, The Passenger

I love all the remixes that are featured in Depeche Mode's remixes album... the Halo one that Blir mentions in excellent. Also love the "Never let me down again" mix in there.

There's a good mix of EATB's "Lips like sugar" that I don't know who did it but it's excellent.

Depeche Mode also has some of their original albums like Some Great Reward & Black Celebration remixed in 2001 - 2004 & they sound great. Violator has a 2000 remix cd.

Well, here's a dumb question for you--Where on Earth do you find these mixes? I loooooove remixes, but I have a hard time finding them. I get lucky on Limewire sometimes...

KYYX --

I love that mix of Heartbeat, too. I prefer that to the album version, as it draws out so much of what makes the track memorable in the first place. On a related Psych Furs note, I was rocking out to the extended version of Shock. That is an awesome mix! Play it loud!

Birdmadgirl --

Get your ass on the hub, Little Miss. One can find a plethora of mixes and stuff there. A PLETHORA! Trust me.

I always liked the 7" promotional mix of Dream Academy's "Love Parade." More compression. And it reaffirms the chorus at the start of the song.

I also like the DJ promotional mix of Michael Penn's "No Myth." At the end there's this psychedelic music mix over the fading drum beat. The commercial version only has the drum beat.

If someone will be kind enough to point me in the right direction, I will get my ass on there this weekend. I tried to do a search for the instructions, but I got the Spinning Beach Ball of Death (Mac users know what I mean [:)])

Actually, if you're a Mac user like myself bmg, I'd be happy to get you up and running. Shoot me an e-mail through my profile and I'll get you underway. It's not really as hard as you might think it would be.
