70's Movie About Elves & Dwarves

Postby Sean » Wed Apr 19, 2006 3:55 am

Hi guys,

This is a weird topic and it's a long shot but I've been searching for a movie that I loved when I was a kid but have totally no clue what the name was. The movie was made in the 70's and it was about a whole village of elves or dwarves who battled against the evil king and his empire. The setting kind of looks like a Robin Hood style movie, mostly in the forest. The elves or dwarves would swing down from the trees and come out of the bushes fighting against the evil empire. I remember loving this movie so much when I was kid and want to find it again. I'm hoping that most of you here are in my age range would recognize what movie I'm talking about here.

sounds like Gullivers Travels..
or Under the Rainbow with Billy Barty and Carrie Fisher about Murder on the set of the Wizard of Oz...more like Gullivers Travels with the Lillipytians!! Does a big guy get tied up by the small people?

Hi Ben,

Definitely not Gulliver's Travels but that's a cool movie in itself. This is about little black elves or dwarves that live in the forest. They fought with stuff that they made from forest material, wooden clubs and ropes, etc.

Yes, this is a movie with real people, not animated. It was before Willow and the Ewok Movie.

Sean, you should try the "I Need To Know" forum at imdb.com. Somebody there will know.

I'm stumped. Was it released in the states? Any actors you'd recognize?

the 80s has lots of that stuff but i cant think of much 70s fare. i was going to say hawk the slayer as well though the part you mention doesnt sound familiar but now i really want to know.

i swear it sounds like you are talking about return of the jedi.
