At this point I'll ask if anybody has any Huang Chung--before the name change--and more importantly is it any good?

The Heartthrobs' _Cleopatra Grip_ is a gorgeous, brilliant album--somewhere between new wave and shoegazer with strange, surreal lyrics that seem to be spoken as often as sung. "Tossed Away", "Dreamtime", and "She's In a Trance" are highlights, but it's certainly worth seeking the entire record (and the singles from that period, which had excellent b-sides.)

One of the bands' frontwomen left after that album, I think; they recorded two more records that I don't feel were as interesting.

I have the Huang Chung album; it's really not bad, if a bit anonymous-sounding--it's like a less lush _Points on the Curve_.

[Otters Walk Among Us]

The Hummingbirds are an Australian summery guitar pop band. Blush is a really good song. You're forgiven if you mistake them for the Primitives.

Hex. Steve Kilbey side project with female singer? I vaguely remember hearing something by them back in my college radio days. Obviously they didn't leave a big impression.

and the Heart Throbs Dreamtime is indeed a fine tune.

Paul Haig: There was a website named after one of his tracks, can't remember what it's called though.. [;)]

Hex: Dream pop. A little-known fact about the group is that in the late 80's a number of their tracks were licensed by budget software company The Power House as b-sides to their games.

Elvis Hitler is akin to a punk parody band to me. The song worth seeking out is Green Haze - combining the lyrics to Green Acres and the tune of Purple Haze.

Heart Throbs were fantastic. In addition to the songs mentioned , Blood From A Stone is also excellent.

Hybrid Kids are in my mind more of a novelty act.

Hex was Steve Kilbey of The Church and Donnette Thayer, ex-Game Theory. They recorded two albums of dream-pop for Ryko. ISTR there was some consternation when Thayer left GT (and, personally, GT bandleader Scott Miller) on the eve of a tour for Kilbey.
