If anyone here knows a way to reduce the audio (vocals) in a song and just keep the music track, or somehow just make a song into an instrumental, do karaoke machines do this?

Yes... just not before the tracks have been put together.
Most karaoke tapes are just cheap rerecordings of backing music anyway. Speaking of cheap, it's Soft Cell. Ya got a Casio?

Some audio programs have a "kareoke" function. This pretty much takes out anything that's panned dead center. Itunes might have it, Winamp might have it, you'll have to dig around a bit in the settings.

One possibility is to remove anything panned central in the track using Sound Forge. Vocals are normally central but unfortunately often bass drum, drum machines in general and bass are panned central too. And if a stereo reverb has been applied on the vocals, the tails will remain.
A better option is to load the 12" version into Sound Forge and cut and paste the track back together from the instrumental sections.
