I was exposed to the Baldelli and Egger sound back in 1981. I was holidaying in North Italy. Had a mix tape for years and then through the internet managed to find out more.
He was into playing 45rpm at 33rpm and invented the AFRO COSMIC SOUND based on eighties electronica and new wave music. It is very different from some sugary disco sound in fact it was very dark at times and not really dance music as we imagine it.
With these tracks identification has been really difficult.As an example he would play Cat Stevens was dog a doughnut, mixed in with phil collins in the air tonight at the sametime but in varying speeds..this would form a beat thread and then he would throw in Klaus Schultze or some rare obscure track just to confuse the poor listener //the sound was amazing and yes it sounded electronic funky and african all at once...
