Why is it called Wikipedia? What does Wiki mean?

I like the definition - but have a hard time with Tom Petty being included.

Although - I do remember when he first came out, he was being lumped (sort of) in with other new wave acts for about 15 minutes.

The key is it is a community-based system, where anybody can edit or update content, though there is a fair amount of self-policing and regulation that usually ensures the quality of information and style.

Wikipedia can be a good jumping off point for those who are not very familiar with New Wave although there are some artists that need more comprehensive entries. And I'm not sure I'm the person to write a lot of them.

As a Wikipedia addict, I can tell you that anyone who considers themselves an expert can edit articles that they consider not exactly correct. Of course, you might get a re-edit, but it'll at least inspire whomever's doing the re-edit to discuss why they're stating the information they're stating in the article's discussion page. And you have to provide sources for anything you state anyway. If you have a real issue with anything and can provide proof that you're right and [x] is wrong, then please feel free to do so in the discussion page while you edit the article and your edit will stand. And as far as categories go (which the top post isn't considered as, though it does link to a category), they're really dependent on the category or categories a particular article gets slotted into. Oh, I could go on but I think that'd create a soporific effect for many of you so I won't. :)
