Madness / Maxwell House Coffee

Postby MARV » Mon May 01, 2006 1:52 pm

Did anyone see the current Maxwell House coffee commercial with all the people singing Maxwell House lyrics to the music of "Our House"? Pretty catchy. I'm glad advertisers are using so many New Wave hits instead of Big Hair Metal or Hip Hop. It's like a "big told ya so" to all the naysayers at the time [}:)] [^]

You're being sarcastic, right?

I'm glad I don't watch TV anymore. Those F-N Devo Swiffer ads did it for me. I don't want images of Pine-Sol of Cotex Maxi-Pads going through my head when I hear some new wave song. I want to keep liking new wave music, dammit!

Anytime Hip Hop & Rap aren't used I get down on my knees & praise Jesus! Well, not literally.

LOL! Look at it this way, friend: the usage of New Wave music in the marketing of products to our generation is testament to it's influence and place in pop culture! It's all about spin, dude. Look for the positive [;)] And remember all the dumb asses that used to dump on New Wave? Where are they now? The funny thing too is that alot of people know and like New Wave but never even knew they were listening to New Wave.

I.....LOVE IT!!!!!

I think it's kinda cool too!
Remember all the 60's music used in commercials when we were teens, I liked that too!

I'm happy for you, Marv.

I'm sad for me.

At least they left funk music alone. I'd hate to hear "Give Up The Funk" used for Speed Stick.

I hate the "Our House" commercials and the Swiffer/Devo.

I did like the Diet Pepsi one with A Flock of Seagulls though.

Anyone else remember the Gary Numan Lee Cooper jeans advert?

Good God ! I almost hurled when I saw that Maxwell House commercial ! Isn't anything sacred anymore? It's about as bad as the Swiffer commercial that uses Devo's Whip it .

Anyone remember "We got the Colgate pump," sung to the tune of "Baggy Trousers?"

Madness was selling toothpaste over 20 years ago!

I get what Hutter says..... new wave for commercial purposes??? First of all, New Wave is an artistic movement in my opinion.
But then take Andy Warhol.... that was art and for commercial purpose!!! [:)]
