What do you miss *MOST* about the 80's?

I miss having no worries. I was just a kid back then. My biggest concern was whether I was going to get to go skating on Friday nights or whether my mom was going to make me eat sauerkraut at dinner.

I miss the sense of endless possibilities that comes with being 18, the feeling that just around the next corner was the magical moment that would change my life forever. I used to get so excited about going to the local new wave dance club, that flushed flutter. To get to the club from my place I had to drive through this freeway underpass of these glittering pale yellow tiles--I still associate that shimmer with my teenage sense of excitement.

I also miss how hot the boys were. I should have boinked those guys with 30" waists when I had the chance! [:p][:D]

Can't agree more Hex. I think I held on to that dream a little too long in my 20's [:)] but no harm done I hope. I still have that inkling every now and then but it's worn down pretty well by 43!

Speaking of being a kid in the (early) '80's, it seemed that times were more "innocent" back then, for lack of a better word. Kids weren't over-sexed like they are today, my parents never worried about me going out with my friends to the mall or the beach without supervision, and we actually knew our neighbors. For a lot of you this still may be true but mind you I'm talking about someone who grew up in So-Cal. Believe me, things are different now.

And I agree about the political correctness, but also it seems like most people even if they disagreed politically weren't as vociferously at each other's throats like it seems like today. I guess cuz we were all so worried about those Russians!

This dates back to early 80's
Remember when getting decent seats to concerts without having to be hanging on a Teletron, Ticketsheister phone que or camping overnight to get a damn numbered bracelet in order to get a shot at a place in line that would afford you a halfway decent shot at getting to the ticket window before all the floor and mezzanine tickets were friggen taken by all the damn scalpers and their ilk who were already in front of you to charge you just 3x the face value on the @#$ ticket? (if it was a bona fide ticket in the first place!)

I fondly remember the pre-Tommy Hilfiger, Coca Cola, Z100 whatever it was called since then (JONES BEACH) Theater when you could show up any time during the week and PAY CASH for an EXCELLENT SEAT to ANY of the shows that were scheduled for the season.

One last selfish indulgent thing (non music related) I miss *MOST* <a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v395/richp62/Personal%20Pix/Jul86.jpg" target="blank">All those spur of the moment jaunts</a> I used to take (solo or w/friends) in my flying club Cherokees & C172s on those CAVU VFR weather days. A night flight around Manhattan, along LI's miles of sun washed beachfront (@500ft), or any number of airfields to practice grassy or paved strip landings and takeoffs. (That was when planes went for $25-$35 per hour). Those days are long gone[V]
