Actually it's my choice for sci-fi too!!

Comedy - Toss up between Cheech and Chong (Man, I used to get excited when a new one would come out) and Pink Panther Movies.

Drama - Godfather

Action - The Diehards are always good they need to do a new one!

but I still laugh at the AUSTIN POWERS films....

Wes Anderson (Rushmore/Bottle Rocket/Tennanbaums/Life Aquatic) films always seem like they are connected....I love his films.

I'd go with Kevin Smith's movies: "Clerks", "Mallrats", "Chasing Amy", etc. With characters Jay and Silent Bob being the common thread, I believe these movies apply as a "franchise."

Smith's movies aren't all great, but they're all entertaining.

Star Wars is tops, despite two bad prequels.

News today is that George Lucas is finally releasing the Original Trilogy on DVD in their original "non-Special Edition" forms (though totally re-mastered of course). The first movie will even have the original 1977 opening crawl (without Episode IV: A New Hope).

Thank god... of course Lucas will make more millions, but I never bought any of the previous dvd releases ...I will buy Star Wars and the Empire Strikes back, finally.

On topic...Indiana Jones is pretty damn good.
