When we teachers implore more parental involvement, this is not quite what we had in mind![:p]

I'm torn. I love pot as much as anyone and no one will ever convince me that it's harmful in moderation, but this has been going on since he was 11? If I had a kid, I'd have no problem hittin' the bong with him or her at around 16, but 11? I doubt it.

Most of my friends that smoke keep it hidden from their kids. I've come to see this as a necessary thing since kids are taught the evils of drugs via programs like D A R E which encourage them to turn in their parents and makes pot out to be as bad as crack. Even without such programs parents who smoke need to be secretive about it because they are after all breaking the law. I think the secretiveness is more harmful than the drug and if you continue to smoke after you have children you need to keep it entirely away from them. Better even if you give it up because that frees you to tell the truth when someone else lies about drugs.

Pot should be treated as what it is, a mild intoxicant. Something you don't allow your kids to have anymore than booze or cigarettes if you care about them.

I was taught the evils of drugs. After I smoked a little pot I figured that all the stuff about other drugs was probably BS too but it wasn't.

HUH? Contradict yourself much? [?][?][?]

So you're advocating doing the more harmful of the two? Nice.

She is entertaining though. Sometimes I feel like I'm reading a post composed of nothing but those poetry fridge magnets.

Fridge Mags..LOL!
I must admit at times some of Stellas posts do harken back to those <a href="http://farstrider.net/DeepThoughts/Handey.htm" target="blank">Jack Handey 'Deep Thoughts'</a> segments from the early days of SNL[:D]

No I'm not you’re taking what I said out of context. My next sentence was "Better even if you give it up". I'm recognizing that many people will not give up smoking for the next 20 years and advocating not allowing it anywhere near your kids if that's the case.

As for my last two statements you’re right.

"Pot should be treated as what it is, a mild intoxicant. Something you don't allow your kids to have anymore than booze or cigarettes if you care about them." A fragment of something I read on the normalization of marijuana years ago.

"I was taught the evils of drugs. After I smoked a little pot I figured that all the stuff about other drugs was probably BS too but it wasn't." Our Community Foundation is hit up every year by the County to fund anti drug programs in our middle school. We get a nice presentation including a review of the evils of drug abuse from the sheriff’s department. I always speak against funding but I never say what I think about the content of their program, a rant that would start with the above statement and go on about the importance of truth.
