email I got from a friend today

Postby scramjet » Fri Jan 14, 2005 5:08 am

He had found an old tape that a mutual friend had made for him back in the day. No track listing.

I was able to get 8 of these off the top of my head. I had the advantage of once having had a similar (but not identical) tape from the same friend. I lost it many years ago unfortunately. Two of the songs are on the NOW SoW 200. I got two more using Google.

I think, but I'm not sure that #9 is Tones on Tail - Go.

#1 is not Ebn Ozn.

I'm completely stumped on #7.

How well would you have been able to help my friend?

Is this an incredible tape or what?

Here's his email exactly as I got it:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried to get some lyrics so you guys could help me identify these.
You guys probably know that I suck at figuring out lyrics so don't
laugh.

One side of the tape in various Oingo Boingo.

The other side is labeled various other. Here they are:

1. "messages are more than just the meaning of the words we say"
"a-e-i-o-u (repeated)"

2. "baby ___ I'm leavin someday"
"you ain't runnin my life no more"
"I won't even bother to pack. I'm gonna leave you sugar and
never come back"

3. "You're always in such a rush....hold me baby, touch me baby,
squeeze me.."

4. "I used to be the kind of guy who would let this life pass him
by"
"I don't waste my time so foolishly"
"Just like the artist with your picture on the canvas of life"

5. "I've got a number ....."
"Time flies, hands of an hourglass, getting bored watching the
seasons pass"

6. "You keep me running round and round well that's all right with me"
"I'm up and down, I'm up the wall, I'm up the bloody tree"
"wrapped around your finger see me fall"

7. "I'm on my own, could you...."
"did understand the time when you tried to say...
...did you give him all he needs or do you feel the same all
alone"

8. "all innocence has gone and flown away"

9. "I got news for you baby, it's time to make my own move"
"aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, oh oh oh oh"

10. "everywhere she goes she's beautiful to me"
"everyone I know says she's beautiful"

11. "a diode a cathode electrode overload generator oscillator"
"make a circuit with me"

12. "Neil Armstrong"
"John Glen"

13. "swear that you love me"

Cubby and Nero Lance are correct. Still wondering if #9 is Tones on Tail. Still stumped on #7. I know all the rest.

Could #1 by "A-E-I-O-U" by the Europeans (I think that's the name of the band) if not Ebn-Ozn?
