Howard Stern on satellite radio - ho hum

Postby Spit » Thu May 11, 2006 7:06 am

A while back at work we got Sirius satellite radio for the Howard Stern show. I find myself getting bored with the show. It's the same old shit with the only difference being they can now say shit. Sometimes it's funny , but not funny enough to listen to for the whole day.On the days at work that I have control of the radio , I put on "First Wave" or maybe "The Vault". Any other opinions on this ?

"First Wave" plays the most predictable crappy new wave "80's" songs. Total typing pool fodder. God fucking awful. (just because Blue Monday is played every hour doesnt make the station worthwhile).... Sirius® in general has been a dissapointment for me. I think Howards show is better than it was on regular radio. but I wouldnt recomend Sirus® or XM® to anybody. Listen to your ipod®.

rotator, if you don't like what's played on First Wave , then why don't you call and make a request or two ? They have played my request. Blue Monday played every hour ? Are we listening to the same station ?

Part of the appeal of Stern on regular radio was seeing how far he could push the envelope without going over the edge. Also tip toeing around the dirty words or subjects, and describing them in non filthy terms.

I've already paid for the service, why should I program the station for them? When I listen to First Wave i hear 'Adam Ant 'Goody Two Shoes' followed by Bow Wow Wow 'I want Candy' followed by Modern English "Melt With You" then B-52's Love shack ---do you get where Im going with that? -I bought Sirius for Howard, and I think the show is just O.K. ---'BoomBox' is a pretty intersting station on Sirius...
Check out some of the itunes radio stations...(especially Cliq Hop)---or for alot of fun visit www.pandora.com....you can enter a song you like the sound of ie: Killing Joke "Change" and it will find artists with a similar sound it may then play "My Spine Is The Baseline" by Shreikback, and then maybe a newer Ministry, track...its pretty neat---it's not always spot on, but I've discovered some new stuff on there....

Thanks for the pandora tip , I'll check it out .Maybe down the line Sirius will add a obscure 80's station , but for me First Wave beats any 80's station that's on regular radio .

...and thanks to paying Howard Stern the big bucks, Sirius reported a huge loss in the first quarter. And R&R reports that while they got new subscribers thanks to Stern, they didn't get nearly as many as they thought.

He signed on in January. In these 5 months they got around 4 million subscribers. Thats no loss in my book.

OK, I got the numbers. Before Stern, Sirius had 650,000 subscribers. Now 5 months after signing on...5 months only, they are over 4 million subscribers. Love him or hate him, thats power.

Howard Stern is great. Two days ago he had John "Uncle Jessee" Stamos spilling the beans on how he:

1. Banged Denise Richards
2. Banged the the big-boobed "Barker Beuaty" Price is Right model and then passed her around to his friends
3. Got drunk with Heather Locklear at a hotel and she invited him up to her room to bang. He was too drunk and passed out in his own hotel room covered in vomit.

Now thats what I call entertainment...
