You mean re-recording a song or tinkering with something that has already been recorded. At best, we get something like [i]The Mix[/i]. At worst, we have something like [i]The Rest Of NewOrder[/i]. This collection stands aside from the rest of their work because they had the benefit of hindsight. The other albums were a leap into something new and totally unheard of.

Boingo re-recorded their stuff and I was less than impressed. Danny Elfman had some amazing energy on the ealry albums that he wasn't able to recreate on the new recordings. On the other hand, Kraftwerk's reworking of their live songs for Minimum/Maximum blows me away. It is probably because I had such a great time at the San Francisco Warfield show that the album stands out so much.

I agree. Neon Lights sounded great, in some ways better than the original, which is saying a hell of a lot. Unfortunately these polls only allow eight choices, otherwise MM would have been on the list.

I went with Competer World, but my vote really went to the German version. To my ears it has a slightly harsher mix than the English version. Maybe I'm just hearing things...

And you people need to remember that even bad Kraftwerk is better than anything else!

[i]Man Machine[/i]. It really captures their electronic inclinations, I feel. And I agree--underappreciated, Kraftwerk is!

Boy this is a tough one! Kraftwerk is my all-time favorite band in the world. I would have to go with ComputerWorld because it's the one that I put on and listen to the most. An album that was/is years ahead of us and pretty much predicted were we are going as technological beings dependant on computers in our daily everyday lives. Man-Machine was a close second with Trans Europe Express third.

Ouch.....I'll admit that Organization, Kraftwerk 1, Kraftwerk 2 are sometimes hard on the ears but Ralf and Florian is great! I just bought my 2nd copy last week.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions....I think "Speak and Spell" (Depeche Mode) is brilliant but the rest is a waste of time.

I wouldn'tsay the rest is a waste of time, but I'm much more a fan of Vince Clarke that the other guys in DM. I don't think I own any Mode album other than Speak & Spell.

Man Machine gets my vote. The original album that contains one of the greatest New Wave songs ever "The Model".
