Association Threads

Postby SwampThing » Wed May 17, 2006 1:05 am

Am I the only one that is getting slightly irritated with these threads? One of them has 130 freakin' pages and maybe should be deleted and started over (takes up too much space on the screen).

So I'm wondering if another forum should be created called "Association Games".

I can't say I'm that irritated by the association threads, and I do play them occasionally, but I do agree that they might be better off in their own folder. And the "bandwidth sucking whores" should have their first umpteen pages deleted because they're not useful anymore--just dead posts. Just keep the current page from each thread to go forward.
Yes, this would be ideal. Keeping only 10 pages or so at a time would be nice.

I don't know if the forum software could handle this. Maybe it wouldn't be too much trouble for the admins to delete the pages every month or so.

Don't you have anything better to do than stir shit? You remind me of the kid that used to sit on the bench during recess and get worked up about the other kids having too much fun playing basketball, praying for the ball to go flat.
Don't you have anything better to do than stir shit?
Nice. I like starting my day off with a good laugh. For Hutter to utter the words "Anything better to do" and "Stir shit"....

Do you ever think or read what you write before you hit the "Post New Reply" button?????

Oh, and just so you know, I was never the kid sittin' on the bench [:p]

I am on another board that does have a seperate "Trivia" sub-board. I think it is a good idea to have one here, too. That way we trivia lovers won't have to waste the time of those who get irritated that they have to scroll down an extra one twentieth of a second past said games. Sorry to have been a bother. I know all the other topics here are much more important.[:p]

I have seen on other boards where long long long threads are shown on the front page like this:
1, 2, 3,.....122, 123.

and you can click on the last number for the most recent page. True, as Universal Radio said, it's really only an extra half second to scroll past what is now cluttering up the front page, but it does take up a lot of space. I have also been wondering if MikeP's software can do this ?[?]

I don't think this board has that feature, however I could always customize it if it really gets to be too much (200+ pages)! I'm still a firm believer in "don't like it - ignore it" when it comes to posts you might find uncessarily frivolous. I'm certainly not going to put the kibbosh on people having a little fun.

BTW, I just enabled a feature I overlooked which allows you to jump to the most recent post -- you'll see a blue arrow next to the last poster. This will certainly help cut to the chase.
My goal was never to kibbosh, simply move it to it's very own forum. Somehow that got lost in all of this.

Also the 14 lines of page links are annoying the same way a huge (tall) image is in a tag line.
