I think 'You Dropped a Bomb on Me" is The Gap Band, very cool,

I also dig "Born To Be Alive - Patrick Hernandez" that Sean mentioned. Quite Disco! I don't admit this to people.

I'll never be embarassed about liking Kate Bush but the high pitch thing prevents me from listening to an entire album's worth.

My #1 song to hide my head by is "Kids in America, Kim Wilde".

I have to agree on "Let's Stay Together." I think I even prefer Tina's version over Al Green's, which just seems so sacrilegious to say—but I can't help it!!!

Hee hee, I have a little different take on this. I would subdivide it into two categories.

In the first category, I can truly say to hell what anyone else thinks for Gilbert & Sullivan, the first two Madonna albums, Gordon Lightfoot, Queen (anything off of "A Night at the Opera"), and Rod Stewart circa "Footloose and Fancy Free."

Then there is the second category, of things that really SUCK but that I like anyway. Like Rod Stewart circa "Blondes Have More Fun." And Matthew Wilder's "Break My Stride." And Taco. And the much-discussed "Shopping from A to Z." Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" (sigh . . . J.).

There are some really embarassing songs that I actually like: "Toy Soldiers" by Martika(whatever happened to her?), "Sister Christian" by Night Ranger, "Sweet Child of Mine" and "November Rain" by Guns and Roses,"The Glamorous Life" by Sheila E., the soundtrack to House Party,and lots of others. I would consider myself to be a new wave and punk fan, but there was and is a lot of other music outside of these genres that I liked, too, and some of it was even too cheesy(like "Just a Friend" by Biz Markie) to admit to my friends. But now, I just like what I like, and I don't really care what other people think about my taste in music.

Hey dcs84 - I gotta admit I like almost every song on your list as well (though as Air Supply goes, it doesn't get better than "Goodbye" or "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All").

"Shoop Shoop, Diddy Wop, Cumma Cumma, Wang Dang" was by Monte Video and the Cassettes. I think they were New Zealanders - I recall one of the old MTV VJ's (back when MTV showed videos and would show obscure ones like "Shoop Shoop") saying the lead singer was a used car salesman. I'd had the old 45 for years and then was lucky enough to stumble upon the EP that included a pretty cool remix.

I also have the 12" of Shiny Shiny which included a great remix that was somehow not included on the CD when it was recently released. Now I just need to get a new turntable 'cuz my cheap Sony broke.

you know, I'd forgotten Janet's "Control" album...that was actually pretty darn good ! I held off on that one, but when I listened to it for real, I was hooked ! It was a TOTAL guilty-hide-the-cassette-pleasure, eep! And MJ's "Off the Wall" album is also awesome. He made some terrific music before all that surgery. Can anyone give me an "AMEN" ?!?!
