Kimiii, thanks for finding out what happened to Martika! I don't really like her newer stuff either, but it's good to know what she is doing today. Even though the people I hung out with in the 80s would have never hung out with me if they knew that I liked the song "Toy Soldiers", I have continued to like that song all these years. Now we have to find out what happened to the group that sang,"We like the cars, the cars that go boom, we're Tigre and Bunny, and we like the boom"(I remember that you posted that on the "Whatever Happened To" section a while back).

It's interesting to see what music people think other people will think is embarassing to listen to. There's lots of great music on this list. I'm with Mare idol on this one. I don't really care what people think as I drive through town and my car stereo is blasting "Shot through the heart and you're to blame, YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME!"

Whew!!! I must say it made me laugh by myself [:D] knowing you guys listen to some really cutesy whootsey songs out there. But some songs have been mentioned which I think are not really that embarrassing such as by "Duran-duran" (I love ther old albums a lot) & Martika (I like her song "Toy Soldiers", too).

Anyhow, I wouldn't admit liking the songs of Air Supply (but I play their songs through my guitar when I'm alone, ha ha!)

And I listen to the likes of Tori Amos, Bjork, Enya, PJ Harvey & Sinead O'Connor which most of you might just hate [:p]

Rush's early stuff IS great! I've only recently discovered that 70's era prog rock/theatrical stuff that I ignored back in the day. It's surprisingly solid--but I think you really have to be in the mood for it. It grates, otherwise.

I could go "til tuesday" with this topic, so I'll just say.

1) I consider Bananarama a NON guilty pleasure.

2) Whenever this topic comes up, the first phrase to pop into my head:

KYYX4ever: I listened to a lot of seventies rock in Junior High:

Kansas: Carry On
Early Styx (Paradise Theater and Pieces of Eight)
Journey (Escape)
Boston

and earlier 70's music like America, Crosby Still and Nash, etc.

I actually went to the Rush Moving Pictures concert (I paid $9.95 or some ridiculous low price for the ticket) as a Sophmore. I also attended a 38 Special Concert (but primarly for the warm up band Aldo Nova!).

I still like to listen to some some 70's rock now and then, but my MP3 player is mostly filled with 80's music.
