Ok, time to come clean (Most if not all of these tunes precede the 80's)

ABBA Tunes- 'The Visitors' title track is a Fav and a Nod to NuWave

Most Carpenters Tunes- Karen had the voice of an Angel

Donna Summer- 'I Feel Love' Hit the airwaves just as I was experiencing my adolescent hormonal awakening [}:)][}:)] ('Love's Unkind' is still a Fav)

Madonna- 'Everybody' / 'Burning Up' (when a disco date was in order)

Gordon Lightfoot- Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald (Eloquently Sung Account Of A Long Forgotten Great Lakes Maritime Tragedy)[V]

Al Stewart- Year of The Cat / Time Passages (Haunting Wintertime / Rainy day tunes)

Rod Stewart- Hot Legs / Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? (Still kick ass IMHO)

The Archies- Sugar Sugar (Classic Bubblegum tune that is begging for a re-do)

Anything by Gordon Lightfoot, or Al Stewart, is a gem IMO. Also like all the early Carpenters releases (about the first 6).

Also like Time Bandits, they had some excellent tracks in the 80s.
Rockwell's whole LP is worth having

Lots of stuff mentioned - Rush, Journey, Boston, Styx, Kansas, CSN, CSNY, America, I like all of it a great deal. Plus ELO. There were tons of great artists in those genres.

I must admit, for me personally, even though they had a few hits between them, I never cared musc for Leif Garrett or Shaun Cassidy. Devildog, do you have their box sets?????

your mention of super early Madonna made me nod...another super old song from her that lots of folks don't know ( I think it might even be a demo) is "Ain't No Big Deal"; this has been a super duper guilty pleasure of mine for years. I always had it sandwiched in between my NW mixes for years. It fits perfectly. There was always a part of me that hoped nobody knew it was Madonna when they heard it. LOL ! Now I can come out of the closet....[B)]

Before New-Wave there was a group called Abba [8D]
When NW started i got rid of everything Abba, and would not listen to them EVER again, never !! But hey, we all get older and later on we cherish all the music that we used to love in our teens, an so "The Winner Takes It All" (amongst others) is my top 10 tracks of all time !!

having just bought some vinyl albums by "matthew wilder" and "the quick" - which are fairly cheesy, i'm in a position to comment here...
i don't really care about the "is it cool?", i buy some pretty off-the-wall erratic stuff anyway... i'm 40, i don't have to worry anymore about being cool!
i used to be embarrassed about liking KISS, but now even THEY are cool again, as people have realised they never took themselves seriously either!
so long as i'm not buying a phil collins album and wearing sensible shoes instead of old-school trainers(which i love!) or those pastel pringle alan partridge jumpers, i know i'm still doing ok...

As long as I don't have Phil Collins, or Christina Skagulera, I think I'm fine. I've rarely been embarrassed by the music I listen to, probably because most of the people I know DO listen to Phil Collins, et. al., thus I proudly proclaim my unashamed & unrequited love for Toni Basil.

Earlier today I went to the record store and bought Olivia Newton Johns greatest hits. In it are two songs that I'm ashamed I like -"Magic" and "Heart Attack" I think they have a new wave feel to them. To make up for my masculinity I also bought a Ministry cd and a Danzig cd. The cashier gave me a funny glance when he came across my Olivia newton John cd.[;)][:I]

I have always liked "french kissin in the USA" by debbie harry but it's the cheesiest thing she has ever put out but the melody just sucks you in, or I should say it sucks "me" in.
