I just want to know - how many NWO members have seen this movie?

Better still...how many of you can relate to it?

I have several of the same obsessions John Cusack's character does: Alphabeticizing my records, collecting records, talking about obscure music, making Top 5 Lists for everything in my life...etc.

Read the book too - even funnier than the movie with lots more talk about top 5 lists, the new girlfriend who likes Simple Minds, the exact methods for tape mixing, etc.

I don't have my first edition (heh) of HF right here handy, but I think the line is something like "She likes Simple Minds but is beginning to learn WHY SHE SHOULDN'T" or something like that (emphasis mine).[}:)]

A guy I know was dumped by a girl for being too much like Rob. She was a stupid twit, but not wrong.

LOL...I'm traveling and don't have the book either. I recall it being something like "She said her favorite band was Simples Minds...We're all a bit stunned and don't know what to say...They were number one in our Top Five Bands Who Will Have to Be Shot Come the Musical Revolution..."

Heh...I think the others might have been U2, Michael Bolton, Genesis, and possibly Bryan Adams...which all make perfectly good sense of course, despite no inclusion of Corey Hart! [8D]

If you haven't read this book (or for that matter any of his other books) do yourself a favor and read it, it's far superior to the movie!

Blir, you nailed it (yes, during the "South Park" commercial breaks I had to go find my book).

The book is indeed much better than the movie but that's because you get so much more of the observations and internal commentary. Notwithstanding the relocation to Chicago and the rather odd casting of the actress who played Laura, I thought it was one of the better adaptations I've seen.

Another fiction book with great music references is "King Dork" by Frank Portman. Portman is in a Bay Area band called The Mister-T Experience. The book focusses on a high-school kid who spends much of his time coming up with names for his band, potential album titles, etc, while riffing on the Catcher in the Rye cult (you have to read it) and trying to solve a mystery about his father.

I have read nothing but great things about this book, I love The Mr. T Experience too!

I heard High Fidelity is being brought to the stage I don't when or where, maybe someone has more info on that. The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger has main characters who are Violent Femmes and Patti Smith fans,great book any one read it?
