You may want to get Raf's version of Self Control. I think it's better than Laura Branigan's version and it is the original. The singer is male and they are more of a New Wave/Italo band.

First things first - let me give a big shout out and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Frayo!!!

Dear Lord - The list of songs I'm embarrassed to say I like could fill a warehouse. I'll start by saying I just saw "Mamma Mia!" and could sing along to nearly every song. Big ABBA fan. When it comes to Laura Branigan, I like "Self Control" but liked "The Lucky One" (from the same album) more. Other songs I like but would never admit outside of this support group:

All one hit wonders of the 80's. So do not feel bad about Laura Branigan. I like "Self Control" too!!

Okay, another one that occurred to me is "Xanadu" by Olivia Newton John with ELO. Yes, it has awful lyrics, but the tune is so darn catchy and Olivia sings her heart out on last 3 notes.

Skinnytie - You reminded me of another one! You mentioned Olivia busting out at the end of "Xanadu", and it reminded me of another song where they bust out at the end: "Cry" by Godley and Creme. I'm actually not at all ashamed to say I love that song, especially the ending. I remember hearing it as a kid and thinking "how did those guys sing so high?" Captivating video, too - very unique.

Has anyone devoted a thread to the best song beginnings and song endings? I'll have to fire that one up...

Well, I listen to alot of old time radio "fibber Magee and Molly,the Bickersons (Excellent Don Amechi) Life of Riley". I have a pretty good collection of Glenn Miller ( including rare colored vinyl and soundtracks)I also have a bunch of sergio leone soundtracks too. But I still watch the justice league with my son and like the odd but different "Mighty Mouse" from the eighties with "Mike the Mechanic"Should I be embarrassed? Why ? it's what I like

Nop... or maybe I should also be embarrassed cause I like "Self control" too... it's one of those good tunes to dance and sing in the shower.. well at least when I take a shower. [8D]

It's no secret that I absolutely love disco in all shapes & forms. I know it makes some people's toenails curl - but I have no shame in my love for it!

Noooo... you misunderstood me Wolvie.... I wanted to say that it may not be everybody else's shower tune of preference but it's mine. I do take lots of showers and very long... just cause I like singing in there and dancing. [;)]
