I'm a newbie, but wow, this thread is right up my alley. I grew up in Galveston from about 1983 to the mid 90s, most of my weekends I made the trip up to H-town and spent a lot of time at RED SQUARE (my personal fav), as well as others like Kaboom, Blue Planet, 6400 and the one that came afterwards at the same address... Peter's Widlife. Anyway, great thread, I live for this music. I started spinning records in 86, my first vinyl was American Soviets, cccp, it of course came from the BEST RECORD STORE ever: Record Rack (RIP). So anyway, nuff about me, just saying hi and wow, great 80s underground knowledge up in here!

former galvestonian here, cory. did you dj around town?

does anyone remember the name of the short-lived club at the Tower Theatre on Westheimer? I remember feeling the walls vibrate while standing in line. Also saw Tori Amos there when it reverted back to the Tower. GOOD TIMES!

IGroove, I only DJ'd "parties" in Galveston from 1989 til 1993 or so. Never got the opportunity to work in any clubs because of my age, and by the time I was old enough, BEACH CLUB had closed and so had MARS, and CARS and VIBES were long gone.

Did you go to Ball High IGroove?
