What do people think of DSL?

I have Comcast, doesn't go down at all in this area so far but 50 bucks a month really bugs me. I also have Comcast stock. I didn't buy it. One day a third of my AT&T stock was gone and I had an equal amount of Comcast. Before that another third of my stock had been converted to AT&T wireless which kind of disappeared after a year or so. I've got 15 shares of the New AT&T and 30 shares of Comcast for every hundred shares I had and their worth about $4 for every hundred I had invested. I'm not sure where the rest went.

Oh.. PLEASE USE COMCAST.[;)]

I went from Comcast to Verizon DSL in 2004 and I have been very happy with it. I think the speed is comparable to Comcast. If it takes you thirty seconds to download a song on Concast, you might download it in 45 seconds with DSL. The change is barely noticeable. But I guess it depends on how ansty you get when you're downloading.

I switched for the same reasons you did. I was sick of $50 a month for Comcast and now I get Verizon for $34 a month without drop outs. Websites load immediately. I can post on bulletin boards like this very quickly. And like Comcast, DSL is always on.

With Blueyonder cable here in England.

I'm on 10megs for £25 ($45) per month. The good thing about being with BY is that they don't do traffic-shaping or anything else to limit your connection so the sky's the limit! [:D]

Final report: I got SBC Global 3m down/384k up for $17 a month. Only hitch was not being able to give the modem my account and password to intialize. Called their 800 number, got a LIVE body without a wait, she logged me into the modem, connection's fine so far. This engagement already confirms my decision to swith from Comcast, but we'll see.

My Downstream has taken a hit from 5meg to 3meg but I can't notice the difference. My upstream is exactly the same at about 350k despite Comcast's promises of 512k to 1meg. Now of course Comcast is reminding me of their bundled service discount which I read as "monopoly penalty". I assure them if they insist on implementing that that I WILL call the DirectTV and get my longed-for NFL package to boot! Bastards.
