Pilon was right; there's just too many good punk bands to list, but I'll add a few:

Wire, Vice Squad, the Fall, Warsaw, Chelsea, Television, Nervous Rex, The Four Skins, Exploited, UK Subs, Verukers, Mutants, Undead, Millions of Dead Cops, Kraut, New Gods, Gang of 4, Buzzcocks, Tenpole Tudor, Agnostic Front, Adrenalin OD, Lifers, Effigies, Cause for Alarm, Fang, 76% Uncertain, Suicidal Tendencies, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, Jody Foster's Army, No Trend, Naked Ray Gun, fIREHOSE, Minutemen, etc...

What about the NoCal punk bands. I used to go to shows at the Mabuhay Gardens.

We used to go to shows at The Mab, On Brodway, The Stone, Keystone Berkeley, Berkeley Square, Gilman(berkeley), The Farm

The Avengers, Crime, VKTMS, The Offs, Negative Trend, Flipper, Dead Kenedeys, F-Word, The Nuns, The Mutants, Sleepers, The Zeros (LA), The Weirdows (LA), Toxic Reasons, SVT, did somebody mention Black Flag (LA)?

Black Flag gets along just fine next to Blancmange in my collection...I know the two styles couldn't be more dis-similar, yet I still consider them both part of the same wonderful 'offbeat' genre.

Punk is an amazingly strong movement. In the mall, you still see kids dressed like the Deadhead hippies of the sixties, and you still see kids with "The Expolited" scrawled on the back of their jackets, covered with safety pins.

And consider the different eras/movements of punk:
-early NYC CBGB's stuff
-Sex Pistols/Clash/Buzzcocks etc (my personal favorite era)
-early 80's LA punk scene (Black Flag/Circle Jerks, etc)
-even the new 'pop-punk' bands of today, love 'em or hate 'em.

Used to listen to mixed tapes of Dead Kennedys, Lard, Minor Threat, Bad Religion, Crass, Bad Brains, 7 Seconds, etc., but not really anymore. I think it has to do with the fact that I never think to listen to tapes anymore!

I do have early Wire stuff on cd and will probably listen to them til the day I die. LOVE them!

The go go's arn't punk...but....I do have a rare bootleg of them in early (Jan or Feb 1980) opening for The Dead Kenedeys at the Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco.

Now if you guys can locate Dirk Dirkson, which none of you guys know who he is. but he has absolutly the best most awsome library of oldschool punk bootlegs ever imaginable ever!!!!!

Dead Kennedys are my absolute favorite punk band. Kill the Poor, Too Drunk to F_CK, California Uber Alles, etcc..
Of course I like everyone else mentioned but the Kennedy's hold that special place in Punk History for me.

Ok, they're not. But, hey, I was practically begging wasn't I? [:p] Oh well, I guess I'm still 75% a New Wave addict, can't help it. I love the Go-go's, period. You got to listen to their best collection "God Bless the Go-go's"
