For 80's club music: The Cult's - 'She Sells Sanctuary' is about as close to dance floor nirvana as you can get.

As for pure 80's listening pleasure coming in under 4:00, I would go with either U2's - 'The Three Sunrises' or the Smith's 'Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before'

Go back to the late 70's with a slower pace in mind and it would be either The Alan Parsons Project - 'I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You' or Pink Floyd's - 'Run Like Hell'

Strictly IMHO of course..[:D]

P.S. This one falls waay outside of coop41's criteria but I'll post a link to it Here just the same since it happens to be one of my all time faves.

Jethro Tull... well.... that's great.

Greenday????? Greenday???? They used to be decent... but that was when I was 10... like 9 years ago. I liked them but they've sold their souls to money and not to musical composition.

Anyway... Philly.... I can't blame you for that. [;)]

Lots of rush fans here. They never sold out and did very well for themselves. I think they are true to their art form. Did I say I like rush?[:I]

Love Rush. "Red Barchetta" and "the Trees" are two perfect songs.

I suppose I'll get thrashed to within an inch of my life if I say What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.

Not from me. I love that song. Even better: "We Have All The Time In The World".

No problem. I have the rest of them too so if you need anything else, just holler.

Okay, The Human League's "Filling Up With Heaven" is another nominee for a perfect song.
