One of the few things that pisses me off as much as fundy religious nuts are hardcore atheist types that are constantly bitching about how religion oppresses them. No, it doesn't. Ever read about the Inquisition? That shit was oppressive, but having the dude next to you pray before school starts is nothing and it doesn't really inconvenience you, so get over it. Ever had a bunch of nutjob radical Moslems point a machine gun at your head? That's oppression. Shit, it was almost enough to convince me to start praying to whatever god would take me. Living in the same county with Quite Life. Yikes! That's oppression. I never know if the Quite Life clan is going to find me, practice some martial arts on me, kill me, then talk shit to me about how I'm going to hell because I didn't follow their specific brand of religion.

If it is, I'll keep on being "uncool". And I'm sure as hell not "weak minded". You live through the crap I've lived through over the years, and you'd be stupid not to believe in a higher power.

Someone, ANYONE tell me I'm not alone here.

Hutter, I don't mean to pick on you but this post almost seems like a parody of a high school morality tale about the evils of pre-marital sex.

Dad: Son, have you had intercourse?

Son: Of course, Dad. All the cool kids at school do it.

Dad: Hey son. If it's "cool" to have intercourse before marriage, I'm just gonna keep being "uncool".

Son: Dad, don't be so weak-minded.

Dad: Son, if you lived through what I lived through, you'd learn to just say no to sex.

Son: Thanks, Dad! You're not weak-minded at all. I'm high on life! Up with people!

Something else we agree on, Beats. Although a believer, I'm turned off by the mindless Jesus freaks who use the Bible as a weapon (I'm sure Jesus is so proud). I'm also just as turned off by "evangelical atheists". I have no use for neither. A nut is a nut.

"Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit ......."

Yeah, that works. There's no such thing as South Detroit either. [:D]

How about "Faithfully" instead?

A nut may be a nut, but some nuts are far more harmful than others. The biggest harm that could come from a society of atheists is what ..... socialism, maybe? Even that's a stretch. The biggest harm that can come from a society of believers is genocide.

Still, it is true that even if religion did magically disappear, the nutjobs would just start cults and go to war over something equally as stupid like who is better for Brad Pitt - Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie. [V]
