ha ha, I never liked that song either. (Or "Election Day", for that matter.) I was neck-deep in my Duranimalism days when that came out, but I hated it. Bombastic, overblown, overproduced, clunky, awkward, and that awful chant: [i]wild boys! wild boys! wiiiild...[/i] *shudders* I know, I know, Duran fans may lambast me for that...."Wild BOys" was similar to "A View To a Kill" in its overproduction and artifical sheen, but at least AVTAK was a bit more endearing.
As for "Election Day"--didn't like that song, but the rest of [i]So Red the Rose[/i] was brilliant...Simon's vocals sound absolutely wonderful; he really peaked there.[:)]

I have the Simon Le Bon version of the UK 7" (I suppose they made one for each band member) and he is dressed in the "Wild Boys"/Mad Max gear. and It looks as if it is shot at an Olan Mills studio...It's just so fruity. It's not unlike that KISS movie in it's deire to make Duran into these "super heros" they should have been embarassed by all that. the few teeth Duran Duran still had at that point (I felt as if they lost alot of there initial bite/appeal somewhere in the recording of RIO anyway) were completely removed. The machine had taken over.

Speaking of Journey (whom I often liked)...

Bad English - "When I See You Smile." They got the bad part right, but I doubt they'll be seeing anyone smile who has to hear this.

Of course, every other number 1 single from between 1989-1991 sounded just like that. I think most sell-out artists eventually figured out if they wanted a number 1 to just rip off "When I See You Smile."
