Okay, I'm very active in my present Church (Edgewood Baptist) an Independant Baptist Church and the Christian School our son attends (Non denominational)we are going to Edgewdood because we didn't like the direction our (ELCA) Lutheran Church was going and we checked into WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Church) but didn't fully agree with important doctrine idealology. We did look into LCMS but had similar feelings as with WELS . My wife was raised Catholic and we still on an occasion attend mass and have been active with the cursillo. I was raised southern Baptist. So as you see pretty much cover the whole spectrum here. I do not force my beleifs unto others nor do I allow others to sway my beliefs and it doesn't bother me when people try as long as it's repectful. I don't quote scripture although I could, I just don't see it necesary especialy here. I don't intend on trying to convert anybody on this forum as well. If somebody states something I may iterprete as offensive , I just ignore it. I normaly choose not to engage in topics of this nature but since it's been lingering for such a long time I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth. I am a very strong believer but that is between me and God and shouldn't change my standings on this board. I tend to choose my involvement in topics and responses based on my beleifs and knowledge. I'm not a Bible thumping whacko (an expression some tend to throw around quite a bit) just oneno (Chuck) I have no secret handshake or a hidden a agenda as I assume with everyone else. So lets talk New Wave.

oneno, it sounds like you are the most sane one here. I like the fact that you checked out other churches. I think that any religion, as long as it brings you closer to god, is good. I have to laugh at this thread because it reminds me of my grandmother. She was real old school irish catholic. My sister dated a guy that was protestant and she went crazy. Back then, different sects hated eachother. Thank god that slowly, the world is getting smarter. You see Jews and catholics get married alot now. And there really is very little difference between catholics and protestants. Wake up world.

By the way, Hi Rubbeet! Hows the other end of the world?

It seems to me that if you are going to be Christian than you need to follow the teachings of Christ. Love your neighbor, help the poor and sick, forgive your enemies and reject wealth. Good luck with heaven all you pretend holier than thou religious freaks.

It's true that early Christian rulers sorted through the writings of Christ’s contemporary and picked and choose the ones to be included in the bible. This was hundreds of years after Christ’s death. This part of the da Vinci code is true. The bible was also reworked several more times, by kings and various religious leaders so how can you say that you know the real truth when its been edited by others? Did God work through these conquers and kings?

With regards to science versus belief, evolution happened. It can be proven that small multi celled creatures crawled out of the ocean and walked on the earth. What we can't do is directly connect our selves to that chain. The missing link is still missing, that’s why evolution is a theory and not a fact right? There's also the big bang theory, first there's nothing than there's everything. I can't get my mind around that without God, so while believers can't prove god exists, non believers can't prove he doesn't exist.

All I can do is listen to my own heart and use my brain and that tells me that God Is Love and all the rest is man made bullshit. And quiet life, please give all you own to the poor before you preach to me, bible thumper.

love to you all, Stella

Hah!! If he (that is, if "he" is indeed a he, and not a she...I love that debate, do that one next) existed he would have fried my sorry ass long ago...sorry, he doesn't exist, unless it is in a Spinozaesque way. Then, of course, it's neither a he or a she, just a collective.

oneno and stella,
we need more believers like you. If you're going to believe, then it's nice to be sane and rational and normal about it.[:)]

Not to be Captain Obvious, but this is the NNNW forum. This is to be used exclusively for anything from thrashing Quite Life, discussing Frayo's love life, and political posturing to linking horrible Youtube videos.

Wha . . Huh??? Stay away from me!!!

Please re-read (slowly) my previous post, esp. the part about you not being qualified to judge the beliefs of others. The authors of the distorted propaganda to which you subscribe are similarly unqualified.
