Stephen King

There was a time I couldn't get enough of King. I think I read Salem's Lot first. It scared me so much that I had to read it again and again. Then I found whatever I could by him. I loved carrie, pet cemetary, It, the bachman books. I particularly loved The Eyes of The Dragon. It was way different from his other books, but still I thought it was a welcome change.

I never read Children of the Corn, but I watched the movie with my very first boyfriend. What a great movie.

I agree with all who've said that he lost something somewhere. He become very wordy, his scare factor decreased, and I stopped reading him a long time ago. Is there anything new that anyone can recommend?

Desperation. That book scared the shit out of me.

I think everything with King is a gamble.

Some of his books start out bad and end up ok. Some start out good and end up bad (I hate when that happens especially with his supersized novels). Some are great from start to finish.

Many of his movies suck. Some are so-so. A few are great.

And for all of these, I doubt if we would all agree which book or movie fits the description.

Does he really appear in cameo roles in all his movies?

I don't know about all his movies (I didn't spot him in Carrie, The Shining, Christine or Misery. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough?) but he did show up in George Romero's "Knightriders" as a opinionated slob.
