Richard Blade Radio Show

Postby Klaus Von Konrad » Sat Jun 17, 2006 4:37 pm

This is hour one of the 1987 October 11 radio show called Rock Trends hosted by Richard Blade. This must have been a nationally synicated show. Songs, artist profiles, etc. I will post hour two if somebody wants me too.

Wow, that's a blast from the past. It was nationally syndicated through MCA and was programmed by Rick Carroll who was the program director at KROQ through the 80's. Program was produced at KROQ and distributed on CD, not tape or albums.

That is RIGHTEOUS KVK! Even when Blade had jumped the shark and was getting flack from all the early hardcore KROQ fans...he was still better than 99% of the crap out there. I mean, the show's giving away a Bolshoi album (on CD!), interviews Ian McCullogh, and plays the Cruzados, Dukes of Stratosphear, Silencers, etc.

Cool stuff!.. Please do KVK[8D]

Mr. Blades' named comps have certainly popped up enough times in my searches for obscure (and not so obscure) 80's music.

I bought the CDs of the show at a used record store back in the day. I will be offering these 80's artifacts for free as part of the great KVK free CD giveaway in about a month.

I think I will soon. I just never got around to it. I prefer CDs to MP3s, and I usually just buy the music I want. I probably have 200 CDs that I bought that I haven't even listened to yet. But I think I will join next month when I have some free time.

Ironically I was just reading a webpage about Carroll yesserday. Very good read;

http://www.tangentsunset.com/kroq.htm

I was in my 20's in the 80's and back then all I was concerned about (to paraphrase Spicoli) were "some tasty waves, a cool buzz, some great music and I'm fine."

Looking back on it all, I find it interesting to read about all the behind the scenes happenings that made playing all that great music possible.
