Well I didn't get to watch the game, but I hope that last goal scored was on our own accord and not with the help of the other team![V]

Regardless, count me in for the remainder of the World Cup ... it's actually been quite riveting, with the majority of goals being scored in the final 15 minutes of the games.

Take it easy. It's not like it's a real sport or anything.

Soccer- the rest of the world can HAVE it.

It's just an excuse for miscreants and hooligans to attend games in the name of healthy competition then get drunk, act beligerant, display racism and ignorance, start fights and widen the gap between themselves and peoples of other nations.

Hmmm. The more I think about it the more appealing it seems...

OK sign me up!

Not that it matters, as Blir is correct, we do suck, but c'mon, the penalty kick that was called was ridiculous.

Germany and Argentina look the best to me so far, although Brazil finally put it together today. I have become a huge fan over the years, I still love the NFL and Major League baseball (The NHL still exists???) but have really grown to appreciate soccer.

I have really enjoyed this World Cup and am really looking forward to the single elimination round of 16. We can bad mouth it all we want, but has anyone noticed the attendance and the amount of people that watch it in EVERY other country. Heck, I was in Vegas this past weekend at the poolside bar and there were a lot of people there watching the games and cheering. It sure beats the dreck of the NBA, especially the Eastern Conference style of Basketball. Ok, I am done[;)]

Really though, when are we going to catch up with these other countries???? The U.S. performance was dismal in 2 of the 3 games![:(!]

lemmi, what is it like there in Germany now? Have you been able to go to any of the games? Is it very expensive?

Actually, when you look at it, Germany, Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Spain and the UK are looking the best so far.

Really when you look at it, it's not terribly surpising that the US lost to Ghana. After all Ghana beat the Czech Republic, who we couldn't even score against.

I'm actually a little dissapointed to not see any more of the African countries make the cut, especially the Ivory Coast what with the turmoil going on there and the possibilities of what a victory would mean to that nation. I suppose Angola is in a similar situation.

I never really have figured out why soccer seems to be dominated by European and South American countries. Also, where's Uruguay? From what I understand, they're pretty good, so why didn't they make it in?

Ah well, just as long as France gets knocked out I'll be satisfied.

Uruguay's a good team but didn't make it to the World Cup cos they got beaten during the preliminary stages.

I think a wasp must have gotten loose in your house or something[;)] and you haven't seen England play yet[:)] Although they advanced and even though I hope they do well, they have been less than stellar and have been widely critized for their play. Maybe they can put it together in the round of 16.

You know the U.S. will finally become a Soccer country when someone has the guts to wack[xx(] one of our players for their poor performance! I can see the headlines now, Philly Stabs Claudio Reyna With A Spork For Giving Up Goal Versus Ghana[;)]

As a matter of fact Soccer (futbol) is a poor mans sport period. Never much cared for it...
That is unless it involved Sly Stallone, Michael Caine and Pele!!! "Victory" WW2 POW's forced by the Nazi's to play the German soccer team!! Sweeeeet
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/ben_at_work/6304779666.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/ben_at_work/VictoryBigPic.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Better yet, "The Boys in Company C" Andrew Stevens stars (He was also "The Bastard" in the TV miniseries of the same name) This time it's Vietnam POW's, Great war movie with soccer.
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/ben_at_work/BoysinCompanyC.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

KungFu meets Soccer in "Shaolin Soccer". Sure it's over the top but my lord is this a frigging entertaining movie with great effects to boot.
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/ben_at_work/33587-large.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

If you like romance with your "Futbol" take the 1980 hit "Gregory's Girl" for a test spin. Gregory falls for this chick, the only problem is, she's a billion times better than him at "Futbol". Sweeeeeeeeet!!!
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/ben_at_work/0074.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Ahhh, "The Karate Kid" the original!!! Only a few soccer scenes but Daniel meets his boo (Elizabet Shue) at a beach party where he "accidentally" kicks the ball at her group of friends. It was true love after that, at least until she moves to Vegas and becomes a hooker drawn to middle aged alcoholics with a death wish!
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/ben_at_work/4743f.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
awwwwwwww!!
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v359/ben_at_work/karate_kid_04.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

I'd also rather watch either two of these clunkers than watch a real "Futbol" game!!
Actually "home team was pretty good as it is "the movie with a KICK" [;)]
