REQ: K.R.O.Q. !!! Killer Pussy " Pocket Pool "

Postby Dj_Phat_Phreddy » Fri Jun 30, 2006 10:03 pm

Anyone from around L.A. or Pasadena, California that remembers the early '80's on K.R.O.Q. ? They played a lot of classic stuff with D.j. "Rodney on the Rock" and even the "Dr. Dimento" show.

Another song that I can't remember the artist's name was " Manny, Moe, and Jack ".

Anyone have similar memories ? Please Post if you have either one of these. Thank you. [:D]

This is a terrible rip, but I hope it'll do just for memories until someone posts a better one...

And try a search for KROQ. There's been some fun threads.

Man I don't even know any more, but I only have some loose tracks. I was just thinking that I'd KILL to get the entire series. Is there ANYTHING I can do to get my hands on those??? [:p][:p][:p]

And Coop, is my Manny, Moe & Jack mistagged as Dickies when they should be Scott Goddard??

No, The Dickies wrote and recorded it on Dawn of the Dickies from 1979, Scott Goddard (the former Surf Punk) recorded it and I believe received the majority of the airplay with his version, although I could be mistaken[:)]

The Dickies' original version of "Manny Moe and Jack" is the one that recieved the airplay here in SoCal.

Scott Goddard had a radio hit with "Cowpunk" here.

Of course, I'm not referring to anywhere else in the country, since maybe Goddard's version was the one that got airplay outside of SoCal!

Wow Guys !!! Thank you very much for all of the rips. As I listen, I am reminded of those frickin' kick-ass days again. Omg, Teenage Enima Nurse ! Hah ! Flashback for sure ! Like, seeing one of my very first concerts at the Hollywood Palladium. I think I was 17 years old. The "Untouchables" opened up for the B-52's. What a killer concert that was.

B.T.W., I know it's Ska but, would anyone have "Stepping Stone" by the Untouchables ? "pick-it-up, pick-it-up, pick-it-up" !!! Please [:D] ?

That version of Pocket Pool is more produced than the one i remember. Is there a demo or other version that is rougher, less slick?

THis is labeled as Stepping Stone by the Untouchables, but you'll have to tell me if it is in fact:
