if 80's club music is not new wave, and one could rationally argue for or against the issue, then there needs to be some very strict definition of what new wave is.

AND STICK TO IT.

rather than get all up in arms over some of us trading rare dance music why don't you just give the paula abdul and luther vandross requesters a good natured hard time and move on about your merry little way.

is ultravox new wave?
did ultravox have 80's dance music?
is depeche mode new wave?
did depeche mode have 80's dance music?
is new order new wave?
did new order have 80's dance music?
is gary numan new wave?
did gary numan have 80's dance music?
is oingo boingo new wave?
did oingo boingo have 80's dance music?

damn near every new wave act in the 80's had a 12" remix or extended dance mix of their hits FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF GETTING IT PLAYED IN A CLUB.

do you see where i am going with this?

your definitions need to be crystal clear and then religiously adhered to. otherwise, you will forever trying to define what is and what is not labeled as new wave.

let the dj's have their time. once all wants, needs and desires are satisfied, things WILL calm down and return to 6 months ago.

you are not being infringed upon. you are not being violated. you are not being disrespected. you are being validated as having a forum where like minded individuals can come together to talk about the greatest, most DIVERSE era in modern music.

Okay, I think we have our answer for now ... no D.J. forum. I think it's probably best not to expand too far beyond the original intent of this board. Besides, the 'Vinylmania' section would seem to be a good fit where D.J.'s can discuss equipment, mixing, rare promos, etc.

Strictly object to this idea! I want New Wave. If you're looking for anything else, go somewhere else! It's like going to an ice-cream parlor and asking for a steak ( and then starting a poll if they should sell steak too).
