The Passions

Postby bowiestation » Sat May 14, 2005 4:07 pm

Is anyone more familiar with this band.God, this is good stuff from back in the day.I was only somewhat familiar with "30,000 ft. Over China" but man the other two albums "Michael and Miranda" 1980 and "Sanctuary" 1982 are also very very good. TigerMN, A big thanks to you for ripping these albums.I'm not having much luck finding info on them the net. At least here are some photos from this well known site : http://www.newwavephotos.com/Passions.htm

I've got a few singles... Sanctuary, and I'm In Love With A German Film Star.

There was some distant connection between The Passions and The Clash. I think one of the members of The Passions was in The 101'ers with Joe Strummer?

I've got all three releases also, with Thirty Thousand Feet Over China being from CD. I should be back to the hub regularly starting this evening (Sunday). Since the other 2 LP's are already shared, I'll not upload Sanctuary or Michael & Miranda.

I first heard "...German Film Star" on a British K-tel type album and loved it - I can't think of too many other records where the guitar sounded so amazing to me. Now I have '30,000 ft.' and 'Sanctuary' and while I don't go back to them that often, I'm glad I have them in the collection.

BowieStation, thanks for the post. I'm a new Passions devotee, and I
find myself lacking in the wealth of material you have. Help a brotha out? I have a lot to exchange if you wish, let me know. Thanks!

I'll be happy to send you copies from what I got off the hub way back then. Send me an e-mail with your address and i'll get them out asap.Thank Tiger for it,after all he was the source I got it from.

Here's one if interested. I'm late for work and have no time to dig up the title of the track. Sorry, i'll have to look it up later but enjoy this great tune:

Glad you all seem to like the site, which is growing all the time as we uncover more material. We're also working on the official biography of the band which will be posted soon. And we'll be replacing the TOTP clip with this new one, thanks for that react010. Love the mp3 of 'The Letter' which is from the 'Sanctuary' album if you didn't know.
