J07 - "Let Me Show You How" by B.M.P.

Any news on the "Talk to Me" song? I ran across the Christal Linn record recently. Wasn't it, sorry.

I didn't hear the clip but could it be ...

CASPAR - Talk To Me
IAM SIAM - Talk To Me

Do any of those ring a bell?

No, but I like "Your Body Speaks My Language." (Although the rest of the "Self Portrait" album is dreck.) Have you heard Caspar McCloud's "born again" music? Ick.

This "Talk to Me" is dance floor fodder. Female singer. Sounds a little like Madonna. The lyrics go, "Talk to me, and you can have my love. So do it baby. Talk to me, and hold me in your arms. Can't you feel my love."

I remember his cover of "Do You Want Me?" being fairly good as well as "Mechanical Friend" but I haven't listened to the album in ages

It almost sounds like it could be some italo disco song, good luck and I will keep an eye out for you

Thanks, Justin/DevoManiac101

Just found the mp3.

That's Tina K? Not that I'm the biggest fan of freestyle or Hi-NRG, but I dig that for some reason.

The B.M.P. album is called "Loc It Up." Epic, 1985. Couple of sweet slow jams on there.

Devo, I will try to give it another chance, but my recollection is that Side 2 was unlistenable and most of the tracks on Side 1 got tired after about 30 seconds. Relevant to nothing, but at pretty much the exact moment Atlantic was releasing this, they were distributing Nine Ways to Win's album. Same story. The single opens it, and then it's all downhill from there. I mean, let's face it, Caspar is a better painter than a songwriter.

LOL, he paints a pretty wicked picture in that video, not to mention his self portrait [:p]

As far as the Nine Ways To Win album, tis a masterpiece! "Painting Over Cracks" would have been the much preferred single in my opinion, but I do love "Close To You" - the video, eh ... I would have imagined it a lot better, there are several other tracks off that album that really standout

I'm trying to remember what he was painting in the video. Chicks? Big-breasted chicks? (Sinner! Repent!) I have it around here somewhere, and I know he was painting something on a bridge or balcony at the beginning, and then suddenly, there's a big party and people are dancing and bopping around. (laughs) It's been a while.

I think "Close to You" is a masterpiece. I don't think the album is. "Painting over Cracks" was the second single. (I may not have been too clear.) "Cracks" is... OK. I would have picked "Ashes and Diamonds" as the followup, but that's just me. "Lights All Over the World" has its moments, but is nearly done in by some horrible noise pollution in the middle. The other tracks are either lesser variations of those songs or just out-and-out filler. And why on earth are there blueprints on the innersleeve? What is that, a pound sign? You know, guys, some artists actually put lyrics on there.

David Ferguson has mentioned in some interviews that the album stiffed because -- as is often the case -- Atlantic did corporate housecleaning before its release, and fired their A&R guy. "Self Portrait" probably got buried along with it. (God knows the new management at the Music Cemetery of America was merrily burying every single record they put out in 1983.) "Close to You" definitely deserved to be a Hot 100 hit -- if not Top 40. Maybe "Talk to Me" did, too.

Hi bought a copy of B.M.P. Let Me Show You but turned out to be a different song! Any other ideas what J07 could be?
