Greatest Album that's "of a single piece"?

Maybe 'Zenyatta Mondatta' by The Police that was one of the first albums I got when I was a kid and rediscovered in recent years. It may not have an obvious theme but I detect one of sort of insanity/mental health in there in a few songs and of course the world's problems etc. Yep so of the top of my head that one.[8)]I've always found Sting's lyrics easy to relate to and understand if a bit wordy at times.[8)][:I]

I would have to agree with many that were already mentioned, including the Cars S/T, Roxy Music "Avalon," TFF "The Hurting," and absolutely ABC "Lexicon of Love," which I think is the best possible answer.

Might barely squeak in as New Wave if we count very early 90s power pop:

Some may not agree but "Heaven up Here" from Echo/Bunnymen flows together so well.

I'll go with the mighty Echo also-but put me down for Porcupine. I'm kind of a compilation phreak-short attention span and everything-but this is one rekkid I can listen to start to finish-Gang of Four's Songs of the Free-also

Gin Blossoms-New Miserable Experience and Yes, I'll say it....Nirvana-Nevermind. There!!

Perhaps others might not consider her album The Dreaming as new wave, but I think that this one by Kate Bush is seamless.

Hounds of Love is different--much more different--than The Dreaming. The character of each album is unique, so it's tough for me to compare them. However, those two are my favorite albums by Kate Bush.

I definitely agree with [i]Hounds of Love[/i]. I think it works brilliantly as a fully imagined & realized concept album.
