The Greatest TV Theme Song?

Postby Frau_Blucher » Mon Jul 17, 2006 1:35 pm

This must have been asked before. I can't remember it though, and it's worth another shot regardless, isn't it?

Call me crazy, but I'm gonna go with Welcome Back Kotter! [:I]

Hmmm, Suicide is Painless is up there too. Ooh, and Twin Peaks too. Shit, Hawaii Five-O. Soooo many...

More memories: I have to admit I liked the HR Pufnstuf theme. Hated the show but loved the lilty beginning part of the opening theme. Another sheepish admission...Harry Nilson's Best Friend from Courtship of Eddie's Father! [:0]

The original Thunderbirds theme song was pretty cool.

Great link, Hut. I might go with Captain Scarlett, personally though [;)]

What about Sanford and Son? Or Good Times? Josie & The Pussycats is pretty damned unforgettable, too. OK, now I have to make list:

MASH. Haunting. Enough said.
The Flintstones
The Jetsons
Taxi (always loved this one, even as a kid)
Three's Company (Come on, you can't deny the sheer brilliance in the cheesy vocals of this lovely. Or what about that crazy opening guitar riff?)
L.A. Law was as eighties as you can get.
Little House on the Prairie. I know.....but it's good.
Love Boat - INCREDIBLE
Star Trek. YES, STAR TREK
Wonder Woman - This one just makes me want to go out dancing.
Mission Impossible. An instant classic.
Gilligan's Island. Come on, who does'nt like a song that tells a story?

Great topic Blir!

You wanna hear something sad? I have all those theme songs, and multiple versions of most of them. Jeez, I'm a geek.

I agree with Randy on the old 60's story jingles. Maybe it's simply nostalgia, but I love them!

My picks -
Simpsons
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Square Pegs
