Growing up near Seattle of course I have to vote for the earlier mentioned KCMU (UW college station that switched to a killer new wave/punk format when I started listening in '81), KYYX (Stephen Rabow was the best!) and KJET on the AM band.
I always remember hearing about KROQ, but only after I visited L.A. in '81, so I never got to hear it! Does Rodney still DJ?

Another for CFNY (with a side of WUWU). Current drugs of choice: XM's Fred (44, Deep New Wave/Alt.) Ethel (47, Current Alternative), & Lucy (54, Alternative "hits").
Fred has a ton of variety, and goes far deeper than Sirius 1st Wave (sometimes getting pretty obscure, which is not a bad thing).

Been listening to Fred (and Lucy) on XM Sat. through DirecTV! I like Fred more that Lucy, and Fred does play deep New Wave.
On Fred they just mixed together Ca Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Bertand with Jet Boy, Jet Girl by The Damned, and it sounded really bad, there was just no way to put those two together...[V]

Growing up in rural West Virginia, the ONLY thing I had was MTV... and I was lucky for that!
The radio was mostly country in the area (shudder), with one Top 40 and one Rock station. So mostly I listened to my own records.

I don't know Big Dave! I haven't listened to Rodney in years, maybe someone in LA area knows... I have no reception of KROQ (106.7 FM) in either hone or car were I live in LA County. [:(]

I'm from the wastelands of north eastern Ohio were you were considered lucky if Donnie Iris was on the radio.
There was / is WMMS out of Cleveland but they never embraced new wave. A couple of friends and I had a pirate station called WPOD (White Punks on Dope) that broadcast over a well known local MOR station. If you lived within 5 miles of us you could hear us Saturday nights for about 2 hours. We quickly got out of that (lasted about one summer) when we actually heard that the MOR station caught wind of us. It was fun while it lasted.
Fast forward 20 some years and I have "Eklektik Radio" on Live 365 (going on 6 years now). I do it mainly for me to hear at work. If others listen then that's cool. I have finally got about 12 DVD's of MP3's sorted through and will be posting them on the station. Nothing mainstream (no Loverboy or The Cars) most very much obscure or underground.
