Remember that AWFUL period back in the late 90's when all you ever heard on alternative radio stations was boring crap like matchbox 20, Dave Matthews, and Smashmouth, etc.

YES, I do. There was some cool music in the 90s, but it wasn't played on the radio. In the later 90s, what was being played on the radio SUCKED BIG TIME. It was all that awful Counting Dave Traveller & the Big-Headed Blowfish CRAP. Terrible, boring, inspiring CRAP.[xx(]

Definitely. I remember around 1997-1998 for weeks and weeks and months, literally hearing the same 40 songs over and over and over. Jewel, Dave Matthews, Third Eye, Ben Folds Five, Marcy Playground, and al;l that other John Mayer type stuff. It was awful.

I voted 72-77.This is when I really started noticing music and I remember Osmonds,Jacksons,Captain and Tenille,Tony Orlando etc.Say no more.

1986 to the present but that wasn't an option....granted, there was a few listenable things during that time period....Combustible Edison, Tipsy, Ursula 1000 but nowhere near the amount that came through from the late 70's to the mid 80's.
